Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Problem

I've had my ACF7Pro cooler for a year now and when it first starts up it's around 600rpm and it takes a while for it to "warm" up before it reaches 2000+rpm. I don't have Qfan or any other settings enabled.

Do I need to put some oil in it or something? What would be the best to use?

I've checked the Arctic Cooling website but not sure how to go about the RMA process, it's not very clear.

Has anyone had any experience with Arctic Cooling RMA?

Thanks

Have you tried plugging the fan into your PSU just to be sure its not the motherboard throttling it in some way?

Would think if the fan does have a problem, it would be cheaper and less hastle to just put a new fan on it?

In your BIOS does it have any options for how the CPU fan is controlled, and does your motherboard have the 3 pin / or 4 pin connector (not a PSU 4 pin connector) as you may be using PWM.

I have the Asus P5B Deluxe and the CPU fan is using the 4pin connector.

Anyway, Arctic Cooling's RMA Support is poor:

Dear ..........,

first point the pegs: You can purchase these pushpins in any
computer-store, these are standardized and so you can buy them anywhere.

If the fan only reaches 2000 instead of 2500 rpm that's not a reason for
replacing the fan as long as it still works it should be fine anyway.

Best regards
Arctic Cooling Support

Basically they don't want to help me. :o

The product is not performing to the manufactures specs. You have a legitimate case for a replacement product.

It has a 6 year warranty and should be replaced.

Write/ email a letter of complaint and send to the Managing Director (enclose a copy of their reply) in the mean time seek advice from a external source for example trading standards.

er ive been looking for replacment pegs and they certainly are not a buy them anyhere
item. saw them at intel for $2 but then add the $20 shipping = cheaper to get a whole
new unit

I have the same mobo and HSF

Have you gone into bios at all?

If not try this:

Delete when booting...
Power options
Hardware monitor

In there are settings for the fan speed etc.

Make sure they all say disabled and then the fan should run at full whack a few seconds (up to 5-6) after turning on.

I have mine set to silent mode so it only runs @ 2500RPM when temps go over 60C

Temps atm on a E6600 are 55, 54 and rpm is just below 2000. With no load temps are 43,42 and rpm is ~1100.

Are you sure the fan isn't getting quicker as the CPU warms up?

Has it always done this or has it just started happening ?
If it has always done it check your bios & make sure you don't have Cool & Quiet set or whatever equivalent your Mobo uses.

Wow, Arctic Cooling has the worst support ever. They don't give a damn about what the customer has to say :O I find this reply quite rude:

Dear Mr. .....
please contact your dealer and ask him to support you with a new fan.

Best regards
Arctic Cooling Support

I emailed them at gone 1am this morning, went to bed and had a reply waiting for me at 08:30, so for me their customer service experience was pretty sharp.

They were just confirming to me that the Freezer Pro is more than adequate to keep the new Phenoms cool, since it doesn't actually mention it on their spec sheet. :D
