Ok soo i've been pondering and pondering over an upgrade on my gpu but have finally decided against it as its just not justifyable for many different reasons..

Soo back to where I was to start with.. I have a pair of Sapphire HD4870s in crossfire and well these things run damn HOT...!! and so the fans kick in which Sounds nothing short of a Jumbo Jet launchin itself out of my room.!!!!!!

Tempted by; Accelero Xtreme PLUS II - 1 for each card obviously.. anyone able to give these the recommendations of performance they claim to achieve..?

That thing seems a bit extreme(haha) for that card, surely better coolers for cheaper than that. I have the Accelero twin turbo pro on my 6870, very cool and quiet but have no idea if it would fit a 4870.

Cheapish and cheerful:

Akasa AK-VC03-BLUV Vortexx NEO VGA Cooler

FYI Dustee, your signature could do with a tweak:

You may use a signature (commonly used in email messages) in your posts. You can specify in your profile a signature to use at the bottom of your posts. When you post, there is an option to use your signature. A signature may contain one or more images but they must fit within a box with maximum dimensions of 400 x 75 pixels (width x height) and with a maximum (combined) file size of 20k. Images containing mostly very large words or animated .gifs will not be permitted. You may also add 1 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text directly above or underneath the image with no spaces inbetween image and text. If no images are used then up to 4 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text is permitted. Do not pad out your text lines with blanks lines. A line of text is defined as having a maximum length of 400 pixels. If you want to turn the signature off in the future, you can come back and edit your post. If you have specified a signature in your profile, the box will be automatically ticked for you.

Bit extreme as may be but seriously these cards are ramping my case temps so much cos' theyre just blowin' too hot! and theyre LOUD when the fans kick in.. :(

Besides .. i'd keep the stock coolers that i'll remove and replace them in the future when i take them out for upgrade and i'll likely fit these coolers to my new card(s) at the time..

think it looks a; bit tacky (not a fan of the whole blue led / glow look..) and b; well i want to see noticable temp drops ideally..

As for the sig.. if you're implying to the res of 400x75 it originally was.. but when i linked it in; it kept cropping .. so i cut it down a touch :)

Would be better selling the old card and adding the money you were going to spend cooling them and buy a new cooler quieter more power full single card

No problem, I just thought I'd throw it out there.

Your image would appear to be over the 20KB size limit and if you use an image all you're allowed to add is one line of normal or smaller sized text directly above or below and with no spaces between the image and the text.

I had the the Akasa Vortexx on my old 4870 and it made it a lot cooler compared to the stock one.

I also have the accelero Xtreme PLUS on my current 470 and yea, its very quiet and keeps the card very cool too :). Although make sure you got enough room between each card because these coolers are BIG!

With the current Setup i could easily slot another card between the 2 i have in crossfire now so assuming room isnt an issue to the size of these things.. i just wondered if they would live up to their expectations :)
