I was wondering if you think ATI Drivers are bad comparing to Nvidia?

Is that the only disadvantage to ATI?

What would you like to see from their drivers?

Almost always faultless in my experience. People need to consider user error as a factor as well. However, whether it be more cash, more employees, better direction or simply more experience, I would say that nvidia are somewhat better in this area. Both firms make excellent hardware, it's just the software / developer relations that seems to separate them.

Look I had a 5870 for eight months I now have a 480, ATI drivers are just as good as Nvidia for single GPU cards, I'm not so sure of driver quality regarding xfire, can be a bit hit and miss IMO.

Personally I think they have their own flaws - what I find annoying is people won't learn how to use either before condemning!

do we really need another thread about this? i mean, this kind of thing gets discussed to death in new driver release threads as it is...

This about sums it up tbh.

Compared to the green goblin drivers they are crap, I have had blue screens, crap performance, game crashes etc etc even with some high profile screw ups by nvidia i honestly regret buying the two 5870's but now I have comitted too much cash to change now.

What is your opinion on people who have the same issues with nVidia?

Honestly I have had nvidia and ati cards over the years I really have no bias, I buy whatever i think is the best setup at the time, overall I have had less issues and problems with nvidia drivers than ATI thats all im saying, I have had to use modified drivers because the quality of the ones provided by the manufacturer are so bad with only one graphics card company and thats ATI.

Nvidia have a history of maybe not always providing the fatest or greatest value cards but their drives are very solid case with a few exceptions as always, ATI have a history of bad issues that can be 90% of the time traced back to a driver issue.

I've always found Nvidia drivers to be better than ATI's. My current problems are a random flicker in both 2D and 3D on the odd occasion and an issue with desktop scaling on two screens when running something full screen at less than the resolution of the screen it's on. Plus microstutter on my 4870 Crossfire setup when they first came out is something that I've never experienced with SLI.

My point was that everything you've said there regularly applies to both of them. They're your experiences, but there are people who have had the same experiences with nVidia drivers and hardware. It's just bad luck.

Are you telling me I have had poor stability, despite the fact that I haven't?

You probably wouldn't own up to having stability problem anyway... I go by all the threads and complaints around the web regarding xfire and they do tend to have more problems than SLI users, it's the simple truth. Oh look another disgruntled xfire user on the tube " looks like what Joker is suffering from "...http://www.youtube.com/user/bumsoil#p/a/u/2/242pfTv5e9M they are everywhere, xfire drivers are good one month and shocking the next.

Anyway the majority of xfire problems effect the 5000 cards, are you running any in xfire?
