Are ceiling fans any good?

They are also good if you are James Bond or Indiana Jones and need to dispatch a baddy and there aren't any nearby weapons, other than a means of connecting the baddy to the fan so they are dragged up and either garrotted or otherwise mangled up off camera.

For me they are brilliant, much cheaper to run and don’t dry the air out like air con. When holidaying in hot places we would often run the ceiling fan at night rather than the aircon.

In a world where we need to reduce our energy usage we should probably insist all aircon installs include solar and battery similar for hot tubs.

We’ve got a couple, pedestal fans don’t compare. Hardest thing is finding one you like (ours are Faro and look great IMO) and sorting out the lighting afterwards as they are usually fitted in place of a pendant light. Some of them have lights but they aren’t always great. In the rooms we have them, we had down lights installed in addition.
