are choppers safer?

Impressed by that, very slick setup on the bike and to be honest (and no disrespect intended) you could believe it was faked seeing how easy he gets on and off.

BTW Very very tasty Busa you have there.

thanks :)

Looking at that trike, I'm guessing back brake on a thumb lever under the left bar and gear selector actuated via hydraulics from buttons also on the left bar. Am I right?

My hat is off to you for keeping with the bikes (trikes). I guess once you have bikes in your blood it's impossible to get them out.

I know someone with severe MS who rides a hog-based trike. His mates built it for him when he got worse very quickly. They put it together while he was in hospital and gave it to him when he came out. Awesome mates. Said they did it because he was a good laugh and they just couldn't go on ride-outs without him.

yes the gear change is on the left bar i use a kliktronic
http://www.kliktronic.co.uk/
the brakes in that pic are linked so both work useing the front lever
at the moe im in the middle of fitting some new duel brake levers so i can use the front and rear brakes seperate

I havent read the thread but yes research says choppers are safer to a normal bike in an accident although with bikes in general do dont normally come out best.

When in an accident, it was shown that crashing into something with your legs out in front of you meant you were more likely to come out of an accident with less serious injuries than say a sports bike where your head is over or in front of your knees where impact of your head is much more likely in a collision.

ah, contradictory to all posts in the thread! this is what i thought too, maybe you could link the research?

That's perfectly common sense... But, accident survival is a tiny part of total safety, crash avoidance is far more important than crash survival. If someone pulls out in front of you while you're travelling at 40, would you rather be on the bike that gives less severe injuries in a crash, or on the bike that can avoid the crash entirely?
