Hi guys,

Having seen a number of worrying posts about noisy and unimpressive 7200.10s, has the problem been remedied now, or is it still a bit of a lucky dip as to whether it's a 'good' one or not? Looking at getting an SATA 320GB one, if that helps.

Thanks a lot. :)

Got one 250gb and I have another coming today for a RAID 0 I think their great drives, quite and fast in single mode so far..!!

Best HD tach score even on my 36gb Raptor but that is only a 8mb cache!

Can't wait to test the RAID 0 set-up when I set it up later :D

I bought one a couple of weeks back now and it seems fine so far although I've not used it too much just yet. It isn't noisy and seems fairly quick although I haven't run HDTach yet, I am running it on a SATA motherboard as well, not SATA II. :)

I got a 320GB one just before Christmas (not from OcUK). At idle it's silent but seeking is quite noisy compared to my old Hitachi 7K250. Very fast drive though.

That won't have been a 7200.10, you can only get those in 200Gb+
I have seen several places offering a 160GB version SATA-II 7200.10. It is not listed on the Seagate website but if you if you Google the model number ST3160815AS then there is a link to the Seagate website. However, when you click on it the "webpage not found" dialogue appears.

I have also read somewhere that they were available in the 160GB to 750GB range but I can't find it now.

Does this mean that there was a 160GB model that is now discontinued, or is there some marketing "error" here.

Anyone know anything about this model number?
