As above my mate has 2Gigs of this stuff and would like to built a C2D system to use as a server. He does not want to spend a lot for the mobo, so new and expensive server/workstation boards are out of question. Thanks.
Look for boards using the Intel 945 chipset. Be careful as not all of them support 1066MHZ FSB so don't support the faster C2Ds but if he's going to use a 2000 or 4000 series C2D then it won't be a problem. This board does support the full 1066MHZ FSB and the Gigabyte GA-845P-S3 is very similar. Another alternative is a board based on the VIA 890 chipset such as the MSI PT890 Neo-V but this only has two memory sockets and IMHO it's dog slow. Note that al these boards only have two SATA sockets so it depends what your friend wants to attach.
