Are there enough reason to get a PS3 if you own a 360?

Still the main question for me to be honest. Nearly a year on and the need to play MGS4 is still eating away at me. There are a few cool games like Uncharted, Disgeia (sp?), InFamous etc that i'd like to check out, but I was really hoping for a price-drop to seal the deal.

Sony's E3 didn't really blow me away like everyone else seems to be... not interested in motion controls at all, and after being a slave to WoW for a while, I really don't want to get back into mmo's, so FFXIV has limited appeal either. Was hoping for another MGS game for PS3, but there wasn't one either.
 
I definitely wouldn't say MGS4 is worth a PS3 alone, but I would say the exclusive PSN games combined with MGS4 (which was pretty decent), the likes of Uncharted, Motorstorm, Killzone and Resistance, combined with the exclusives just announced at E3 mean it's definitely worthwhile. If a price drop is announced soon then all the better.

I have both and I genuinely love them both. 360 I can play with my mates on Live (which is a better setup than the PSN at the moment, you have to admit, combined with supplied headsets meaning everyone can talk), and the PS3 has some great exclusive games that I'd be missing out on otherwise.

i would say AYE get it and also...

For me the following question seems more apt in 2009

Is there enough reason to get a 360 if you already own a PS3 in 2009 ?

couldnt even think about saying that even a year ago tbh
 
I think there's more than enough reason to get a PS3 if you already own a 360.

I also think there's more than enough reason to get a 360 if you already own a PS3.



End of the day, the only way to get all the best games is to own both.

IMO they're both great consoles for different reasons.

Yeah i think that is the way a few folk are heading. There have even been some folk selling up their 360's on here to just have the PS3.

The 3 exclusives i am looking forward to on the 360 are forza 3 and Alan Wake, and L4D 2after that, not much.
 
Yeah, I heard that a price-drop isn't at all likely though seeing as MS is still making a loss on the units.

One thing that really irks me is that they removed backwards compatibility for PS2 games yet added 20gigs onto the hard-drive. I'd happily pay abit more to be able to play PS2 games on it, but you can't even buy that model anymore :(

I know it's not the same, but, you could use that 'little bit extra' to buy a slimline PS2, they're cheap as chips second hand.

Well, yes to that as well. They both now have a load of exclusive stuff already out and coming out soon. The only way to experience it all is to have both. Calling one of them rubbish because you own the other is just a way of showing how embittered you are that you can't play certain games. Get both and you're in a win-win situation.

I don't even think they're great for different reasons - they're more or less exactly the same. It's just the annoying buggers who buy up exclusive rights to certain games, pretty much ensuring people who buy one or the other are going to get screwed at some point along the line.
 
I think for anyone to say there are no reasons to buy either console just shows a very personal slant on their criteria..

If you can only have 1 console and have to choose the right one, the PS3 this year does seem to have 'more' exclusives, but you always need to look at games you want/play etc.. either console is a winner in my eyes, and absolutely, having both is the best way..
 
MGS4 is probably my favourite game on PS3, Now the PS3 is available for £250 in some places I will be getting one. And I agree that MGS4 is a system seller, I would also own the PS3 just for MGS4, Although I've now finished it more times than I can count :D
 
I would say so yes, I am a 360 owner and will be purchasing a PS3 in October, seems like that's when most of the good stuff from E3 is coming out.
 
I have a 360 and x2 PS3 (1 in the lounge and 1 in the bedroom), the only reason i have a PS3 at all is for its multimedia use, both consoles are in separate rooms and have various MP3 and AVI files on them and are used primarily for the playback of music and videos/Blueray/DVD etc, I do have a few games for the PS3, but its strongest point for me is the multimedia aspect which bests the 360 most of the time.
So If your looking for a great gaming console... Don't buy a PS3 just for 1 game, stick with the 360... but if like me you like a few games and will make use of is multimedia potential, then get a PS3 ;)
