I'd like to knock a few hundred quid off it, but if you're looking for a dependable and cost-effective runabout, you'll be hard pressed to do better.

What kind of driving are you going to be doing?

Check for water ingress on door seals.
Mate had big problems with this and several garages were never able to fix it.
Easy to check just look for dampness of carpet, might have been a unique problem to his car but worth checking.

This is quite a common problem and affects the Ibiza/Polo/Fabia.
It should be fixable, but it's a bit of a fiddly job.

driving Blackpool to Preston and back every day down the 50mph back roads/dual carriage ways.
