Are these temperatures ok?

If your gonna oc the cpu, yes you'd be better of with a good aftermarket heatsink and fan setup.

Those temperatures are great. Loads of headroom.

As above if you are going to overclock heavily you'll need a decent cooler. You can do small overclocks on the standard one, but you need to be careful about temperatures.

Can probably go to 4 Ghz ish on a stock cooler and have OK temperatures. For quieter running or heavier overclocks you'll need to get a proper cooler. Something cheapish like the Gelid Tranquillo will do the job. Or if you want an extreme overclock you can look at something better.

This is what I bought back in May:

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail

OcUK GeForce GTX 570 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card - OEM

MSI Z77A-G43 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard

Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

OCZ ZS Series 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply

Zalman Z9 Plus Tower Case

I also had to get the OS, HDD, mouse/keyboard and monitor as it was my first build.
I also built a similar one for my brother recently, but it had a gigabyte mobo and 6850 gpu.

Yeah that's nice :)

I'm a big fan of the Z9 case. It's all i seem to have been asked about lately lol I tried to condense most of my wisdom into post #14 of this thread. You might find the tips useful for both your rig and your bros :)

If you want to overclock the CPU something like this would be better than the Gelid tranquillo. The gelid is an option as it's cheaper but the 612S is superior with it's extra heat pipes. Seeing as IB runs hotter than SB the better cooler makes sense no? Would make a good stocking filler or gift from someone for crimbo lol
