It depends on your budget, the later versions with the modified JMicron controllers seem to be running ok, based on other feedback here. The older JMicron based drives - I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

Personally I'd find the extra cash and go with a Samsung PB22J, Crucial M225 or Intel X-25 G2 if you can stretch that far.

50% price increase for 100+% performance increase.

save up dude. Why have a 59p hamburger when you can have sirloin mmmmm

well after reading a couple of reviews

they seem to think that the stuttering issue is a non issue.
ok so there are faster drives availible, but who really needs 200mb/s transfer rate for a boot drive, its not as if i would be keeping any huge files on it anyway.
with the new sata standard here within the next 6 months, newer cheaper memory chips leading to faster cheaper ssd's..(hopefully).
the whole trim issue seems to be taking its sweet time to get sorted aswell, and it proberbly wont be sorted properly until intel get round to incorperating the nesscersary bits into thier chipset drivers.
as a cheap ssd for the next year i thik these look like a good bet.

i just cant get over the price, only £93

ofcourse if you say well save the extra for a better drive then you might as well save the extra again for the intel......which is as we all know the best drive out at the momment.

please talk me out of it or am i really making sense......?

Who needs 200+mb read speeds? Me and a lot of other gamers and enthusiasts. Hehe follow your heart, if you're set on the micron drive go for it just so long as you are aware of what else is available.

I'd say they are worth it, certainly faster than any mechanical drive in most situations.

However, Kingston are bringing out their X25-m based drives with 40GB. These are apparently only going to be ~£70 and would be a better choice performance wise (provided you don't need more than 40GB)
