Im planing to buy a few 16TB elements external hard drives to shuck and get the drives to build a personal NAS/server and was wondering if any of you have any experiences with this WD drives and if they are reliable for long term running?

Yes. all good.
You can ask how I know but this should suffice.

I didn't realise there was a farming method using storage. Now I know why all the prices have gone sky high like GPU's

Chia farming currently isn't really profitable, especially with UK electric prices.

It's good if you have a lot of storage and want to use some excess though, like the storage is already running, and you have enough of it to add some Chia plots and farm away.

Creating the plots has a certain cost to it though.

Shuck away, they are so easy to disassemble and put back together so if you do experience any problems you can return it back to it's original state.

Before shucking I recommend a full read and write disk check so you can get any faults already out the way, it'll take a couple of days for a 16TB drive but great for peace of mind.

I have +6 10TB from shucking and 4 18TB from shucking WD Elements as well and have not had a problem so far.
