As title, bit of a random thread i know but it got me thinking.

Is there such a thing as an English person? isn't English a language?

The country is England yes? We speak the English language yes?

Does that make us English? or are we Britains / Britons (sp)? :p

Paul ...

I am WELSH !!

If I'm talking to someone from the UK then I will say I'm Welsh , If I'm talking to someone outside of the UK then I call myself British

If I am filling out a form and it asks for my nationality then I declare myself as British

From experience of living in Essex I notice that you English lot don't really see yourself as British and it's English every time ..

Would be interested to see what the Scots say ;)

You're whatever you want to be.

The way I see it (I'm Scottish btw):

You are both English AND British. People from England ARE English, none of this PC guff tbh. However people from England, Scotland and Wales are British, therefore Britishness is a superset of each nationality.

The way I see myself is: I'm Scottish, but I'm also British, a British citizen and hold a British passport, and I dont see how the two can be incompatible. The same should hold for English people too. Be proud of your nationality :) In fact if England play Scotland, I would rather the English had banners with St George's cross on it than Union Jacks (as ALL of Britain, and Northern Ireland, come under that flag, not just you!).

You guys are lame, England was playing against Wales and Scotland, what kind of bull*** is that?! My grandma's football team would qualify for the mundial if Athens was playing agains Crete and Salonika.

Booo hiss etc.
