Apparently I'm a back seat driver...

I'm sometimes told this by friends, but I'm just looking out for them.

If it was me driving I would appreciate the extra eyes and ears if they feel like offering them... Some people appreciate me doing it, but others (this one girl in particular :p) find it unnecessary/patronising. I try to resist saying anything but I sometimes can't resist checking when pulling out at junctions or overtaking. It's my automatic reaction!!

My efforts have not gone to waste! I would say for sure I have stopped 2 crashes from happening, with one of them I actually leapt across the cabin and turned the steering wheel so they just managed to avoid a bollard at 20mph. He thanked me no end :p

Are YOU a back seat driver??? :D

I keep my mouth shut but I rarely trust the driving of others. There are perhaps 2 or 3 of my friends who I trust when seriously putting their foot down.

I try not to. But I have a friend who hardly ever bothers to use his indicators. I actually lean over at junctions and do it for him, it winds me up so much.

Aye, I keep my mouth shut. I trust most of my friends driving, but sometimes I get a little nervous when some of them sit a little close to the car in front on a motorway.

It really buggs me when people do it, I know they are only trying to help but It really annoys me! To the point if someone continued to do it after I told them to stop I would ask them to get out and walk tbh.

I find that automatically check at junctions, out of habit, and often check in the mirrors. I also complain when people are driving badly, but I'm trying to stop myself, as I know it's annoying...but some people do just make me fear for my safety. :/

I only trust a few people properly when driving, as I know they can drive...strangely though I completely trusted Lopez and Gibbo when I went out in cars with them. :s

Im twitchy with everyone elses driving...! Wouldnt point anything out unless it was really needed tho!

Actually i had a gf years ago that could not drive, i always alerted her to things! kerbs, breaking cars, people!! Its as if she would lose concentration after a few mins driving!

Nope, I hate them. I've given a workmate a lift home a few times now, he's always telling me to slow down, or to not swerve around potholes, or brake sooner, it got annoying and eventually told him to get a lift home with someone else.

Personally I have probably only once feared for my safety, they were a complete idiot and I told them it... This was to the point that they would just pull straight out of out at blind junctions without checking. I told them straight.

Nobody really worries me about the possibility of crashing.

tbh I do it for the sake of hassle, their insurance and the other parties insurance.

I would (without trying to tread on any toes) find it funny or more of a life experience in most cases.

Depends on who i am in the car with. My mate champion no problems at all. My cousin... hes a nightmare! im always getting onto him as he tail gates or just refuses to use his indicators.

I used to be quite a bad back seat driver, but have learnt to bite my lip. Still have a few out bursts now and again though :D

Now I would find that annoying.

I'm what you would say 'adventurous' when it comes to deserted windy country roads :D I don't mind someone who prefers to put their foot down, brake late or avoid potholes as I do the same :p

I can't have double standards :)

I live in the middle of nowhere, and have loads of small country roads, with hight banks. These roads often have people driving down the middle of them and fast, even round corners.
When I'm a passenger in a car of someone that drives down these roads in the middle because they don't know them, I fear for safety. ;)

Plus my ex used to drive right up the back of other cars, stopped traffic or not, and multiple times almost rear-ended people. Again, don't really want to have an accident...especially as I've had a couple myself. She'd also accelerate down roads if there was a gap in traffic, not checking the side roads where cars often come out. - I'd tell her off for that and she'd get really annoyed, but I'd rather that than have an accident.

See, I do, but that's because I know that the people I tell off for doing it really can't drive/handle the car the way they are trying to. People that I know can handle it, I'm fine with them doing it. :)

When I'm a perfect driver myself I'll feel qualified to comment on other peoples' driving. Until then I only give opinions/comments if invited.

Call me crazy but I enjoy being driven fast much more than I enjoy driving fast myself. My new Linux developer (who may well be reading this) is, frankly, nuts. The Mk2 Focus is very forgiving of his lack of any fear or self control. Being in a car with him is brilliant fun :D.
