Are you a different person on different drinks?

I'm a good natured drunk whatever I drink except for one thing.

Tequila and I do not get on in any way, shape or form and I haven't touched a drop in probably 20 years.

The last time I went on a tequila binge, I'd decided to make it a "Mexican" night, so drank an entire bottle while consuming tortilla chips and salsa dip.

I ended up locking myself in the toilet, puking myself dry until other manged to coerce me into getting off the floor and unlocking the door so they could rescue me.

It's been known as the "A taste of Mexico" night, through not only the flavour in my own mouth but the stench of chunks entrenched throghout the long hair I had at the time. Oh, memories....

I ended up naked at the top end of Sauchiehall Street (Glasgow) after having walked through the kitchen/canteen area of the Halls of Residence where my sister was staying and being chased out by a very angry porter. I was then addressed by a police woman who suggested that I should put some clothes on or go home before (a) she arrested me or (b) some tanked up yob kicked me senseless. I decided that neither option was appealing so she put me in her car with a blanket and took me home :) I really lucked out as that could have got nasty.

**** you tequila

Never drinking that stuff again.

i reckon how often you drink something changes how it affects you
so...if you're used to drinking beer and vodka and anre usually pretty sensible then go mad one night when you start drinking whiskeys it's just because it's something different for your body to handle

prob more to do with how much caffeine/sugar etc is in different drinks rather than there being a different kind of alcohol

I wonder how much of the effect of different drinks is psychosomatic because some people think that they should find themselves affected differently by them. Maybe there are really variations in peoples behaviour that stem from different types of drinks but then again I've never tried to prove it on myself in any scientific way - it seems to me to be a bit like believing that it was the tequila shots at the end of the night that ruined you, not the 12 pints beforehand.

I don't get it when people say "drink changes me" makes them more angry/emotion or more aggressive, surely that behaviour has to already be there and alcohol just increases it/brings it to the surface?

Drinking a certain time of alcohol can't have a varying influence you different, surely?

I know they say you shouldn't mix drinks but again, when I mix beer, vodka and whiskey, again I just get tired lol

I just fall asleep when I get drunk, I'm boring lol

Anything ingested ends up fuelling the system and can have an effect on the brain however, personality traits that tend to remain hidden are often 'set free' when substances like alcohol are ingested hence the ‘changed person’ phenomena.

I'm a very happy drunk, no matter what I used to get drunk. When I'm drunk I'm just a louder version of my sober self, and to me that is a good thing, as I'm really very shy when sober.

Sometimes though, I do wish I was shy when drunk.. Would have much less embarrassing stories for me to wake up to the following day! :P

I usually drink vodka and different mixers. Makes me happy and I'll talk to anyone. Vodka makes a lot of people angry though and my mate on JD wants to kill everyone.

I’ve always been a good natured drinker, really not much different to my normal self apart from being a little more talkative. Endurance has always been my game and knowing what not to drink and when to stop or slow down helps a great deal. There isn’t a drink that makes me change my behaviour dramatically.

I've used to have many many pitchers of vodka redbull, shots, beers, cocktails every time i went out. Always got hammered, but always know what im doing and remember what happened the next day. 1 whiskey and i dont remember the rest of the night, even if its my first drink, my nights a blank. I stay well clear of it now.

There's definitely something to this. I'm what I would describe as a charming and sophisticated drunk when I have gin but if I drink lots of wine I go nuts!!

Ethanol is ethanol yes, but pharmacokinetics must be taken into account, less water drank results in a higher blood alcohol concentration, and bubbles in a drink increase the drugs absorption. And the placebo effect always plays a role where drugs are involved.

Vodka: Happy
Whisky: FIGHT!
Czech beer: chilled beyond belief
UK beers: Sad because they all taste horrid.
Slivovitza (plum brandy): Puke time and entertainment for all.
Wine: I blame the dog for peeing on the sofa.
