I suppose if i spent less on my PC i could afford to do my licence then get a real bike rather than my Honda PCX 125 esp.

I think once i got my GPU in about 6 months i'll upgrade my CPU then i'll be set for a while.

GPU upgrade is a good shout, what CPU do u have?

Im the same as you OP, I've had my PC since February, I've had new gpu, ram, CPU, HDD's, case, cooler, gone from fully water cooled back to normal air to aio, 3 new monitors and a new mobo, which I didn't like so got my old one back. The only thing that's stayed is my PSU and SSD. Thinking about x99 but again, not needed and a bit to much for me to blow on PC parts this soon.

I have no need for a PC this powerful but it's nice to have the ability to turn on a game and have all the pretties and stuff. Also a student living at home with no rent or bills apart from car insurance helps cure the itch.

I currently have a G3258K. Clocked from 3.2 to 4.3 with std voltage and H110 cooler

I mainly use Lightroom and Photoshop, play GRID, Grid2 and Dirt 3.

My curent setup works perfectly well for all of this and i am playing my games on high / ultra with no jittering / slowing down.

Before anyone mentions it i will not be getting a titan /980ti because they are simply TOO expensive. I'm happy looking at the 750 ti (only £100) or similar. The other reason for that one is it came highly recommended for folding

CPU wise i'm thinking of going over to the i7 4770k (i think it was that one) and perhaps clock it a little. but will depend on how my moneys are at the time.

I wish i had things that easy haha! i have 2 cars, a bike, 4 ferrets, 2 mice, 2 snakes, 3 dogs, 6 horses and a wife! lol

I built my last rig in November 2007. I upgraded the CPU and GPU once (second hand from MM), I also added a SSD about 3 years ago.

I have recently upgraded to the rig in my sig and reused whatever I could (case, SSD, monitors and OS). I am happy with my upgrade, it is perfect for gaming at 1680x1050 with everything on max in all games I have played.

I would love to splash out on some new monitors and a much better GPU, although I can afford it I choose not to spend as I find it hard to justify. One day maybe I will though :)

It's easy when you can't afford it :p

This, mainly.

For what I do my current build has been fine, GTA:V was the first game that really tested my build so I upped to a 980Ti, which handles games just fine.

Build from 2012: i5-3450, MSI ZH77A-G43, XFX 7970, Corsair CX750, and 4x4gb of 1600MHz ram.

A new build is in the pipelines for the next few weeks, after being told since February to wait for Skylake. What a mistake that was.

It's been worse lately. And even after upgrades I'm playing older RPG's anyway doh!

Case 1 year
PSU 6 months
GPU 1 month
CPU 1 year
MOBO 1 year
RAM - new stuff arriving tomorrow (doh!)
SSD 4 years OS SSD, but swapped my old mechanical storage for a 480 a month ago

No, I am not content with my current setup.

I can use hardware for a long time, but mainly, I just love tinkering around and trying new things.

I've always been a very impatient and impulsive person and i'm just wondering if anyone else is content with their computer build?

I've had mine now for about 4 weeks and already purchased new ram, new graphics card and 2 new HDDs.

Not because i NEED them, Just because i WANT them.

I have heard of people saying "it's been 4 years, time for an upgrade" but how do you make a PC last that long? There is always something new / different out. How do you not give into temptation and buy more stuff?

I now have a 6970 2gb card and a 7770 1gb card i'm trying to sell in order to get a GTX 750Ti (as it's better for my folding@Home...

I was content with my 4 year old Intel i7 920 and 12gb of RAM, alongside my 970 gtx card, thought i'd get another couple of years out of it until my motherboard started dying slowly, now I'm out of pocket £400 with another new i7 16gb of ram and a gaming motherboard, but i still wish i didn't have to replace my beloved i7 920 and 12gb of gold ocz memory.

Case: 1 week
PSU: 1 week
CPU: 2 months
Mobo: 2 months
SSD: 1 month
Other SSD: 2 months
Ram:2/3 years (about to upgrade)
Cooler: 2 years (about to upgrade)
GPU: 2 months

It's just so fun building PC's. About to build another one from all my old parts then maybe buy a GPU for it too. :D
