Are you embarrassed to put "Online Gamer" on your CV ?

I generally add a couple of fitness/sporting activities as it makes you look energetic, I wouldn't add online gaming as makes you look geeky and antisocial.

I mentioned my hobby of 3D modelling in my last interview as a demonstration of self education and I got the job which has nothing to do with 3D stuff so obviously I did something right so why not gaming? As it's losing (lost?) a lot of the stigma that it had years ago though I think you'd have to word it carefully to not make it sound like you play games when you should be working. Though I'm not sure I'd mention it on my CV unless, as above it was high level competitive gaming or specifically a role in the gaming industry, but maybe on a cover letter? As it could show you hobbies, while different to the job, align you with a role and could help you get it.

You'll probably find that you'll be more competent at using them within a very short period of time than most of the people who use them every day.

Kind of weird thing sometimes in work related situations that people judge based on my overall experience and skill set that I must be conversant with Excel - but though I learned spreadsheets when studying IT (20 years ago) I've had little reason to use it at work or personally, aside from editing documents made by other people who've used it for rotas, etc. I'd have to do some serious Googling to get up to speed on anything beyond the basics.
