I dont know about you but I am forever updating/running/rebooting/ my PC for constant scans and updates, its as if my PC has to be bang up to date with the latest defintions and such.

Also programs, I must have about 3 virus checkers and loads of spyware removal tools, I tend to 'look after' my PC more than i do anything else on it.

Am I........ alone?

:)

well ive gotta have my pc running perfectly or as nearly perfectly as i can. if something isnt running as it should it will bug me until i get it sorted!

I always have to have up-to-date anti virus/antispyware software and windows updates. I have to have my keyboard shortcuts exactly right. I can't have programs installed if I don't use them. Oh and don't even joke to me about having a defragmented hard drive :p

And the satisfaction I get, after just having backed up my perfect windows partition is rather scary :\

I think i need help!

Your definately not alone!

I defrag almost every day for max performance clear out all the temp + internet files check for driver/windows updates and apply if need be.

Best way to keep a PC running @ optimium is to do all this on a regular basis. Only takes a few mins after a while. Also helps it to maintain stability as badly defragged HDs are the usual slowdown culprit for most people.

Only when my pc is conected to the Internet. At home right now we have no internet. But I like my pc to be orginised files in different folders ect. Everything must be labeled correctly ect. But normaly yes I am. I hate spyware and viruses....ok who doesn't?

Nope, I've not rebooted for 39 days. I'm well aware I don't even have the WMF hotfix installed yet, let alone the new WMP one.

That said my PC defrags itself every night and generally I keep things tidy where they need to be. My Windows install was done in Feb'2002 and still going strong!

I am a little obsessed with tweaking and am always fiddling with some setting or another. I once installed Windows 3 times in one day because I cocked up an install twice. :p

Generally though, I just install the OS, install my programs, security software (AV, AS and FW) , optimize services/registry and then defrag. I just then regstry/temp file clean and defrag once a week. I have a 2K system that has been running for four years without any maintenance.

definatley

i defrag with PerfectDisk twice a week, run CCleaner every night before i turn it off along with registry cleaner on TuneUp

Everything has to be tidy to, hate things on my desktop lol

I always have to have minimal services running

knowledge is a burden!!
Newton wasn't it?

On a side note, I defrag every night and keep things under 15 processes running at one time :D

Yeah Newton, he said "a micro chip falls from the sky and hits you right between the eye. From this fact it's very plane all micro chips will do the same"

Wonder why I said that? Mmmmmm must be feeling poetic tonight. :D

hmm i guess i am like that after a fresh format but after a while the novelty wears off...

i mean i can understand if u are a gamer and u need the best possible performance, but i only play the occasional game and just surf, use winamp and flashfxp and mirc. so i dont really need a super duper computer to do that

i never defrag...dont use any anti virus software, dont have any firewall, even XP firewall is disable, and all is good :)
