Yes that's right £7500 for a 1.2 meter kettle lead. That's more than most hi-end amps and CD players cost. I saw a review in the latest Hi Fi+ and the review claims as he replaced these leads with his old £3000 kettle leads the sound improved dramaticaly. Is this the emporers clothes or what?

Don't hot link

You would have to be severly tapped in the head to pay that for a lead even if it was gold plated and came with a photo of Christina Aguilera in a sexy outfit i wouldnt pay it.

Something tells me this has nothing to do with electric kettles.

If I paid £7500 for a power lead, I think I'd convince myself the sound quality had increased dramamtically as well.

With dedicated power supplies and power supply cleaners, while expensive solutions, it is at least believable that they could improve sound quality. This however...

What about the quality of cabling behind the power socket? And the cabling to the house for that matter? Surely because of this the entire point of this cable is wasted?

Exactly my point. My previously mentioned measures do have at least a logical aim; to clean up the power supply by either cutting out other devices messing with it or to 'clean' it before it gets to the amp. This however... is a cable.

Power leaves nuclear power station (dirty)

Electriciy travels along many 1000's of miles of crude cableing (getting dirtier)

Electricty enters sub station (very dirty)

Electricty travels to peoples houses picking up whatever interferance is along the way - microwave ovens, mobile phones, radio waves etc in very cheep cables. (filthy)

A £7000 wire makes everything clean again!

I have worked for Rega hifi's in the past and had this convo with one of the bosses and he thought expensive cables were a con as even in hi end hifi's they dont use cables that expensive... no more then £20p/m stuff internally.

Almost all audiophile gear is a scam, someone took apart a £6000 GoldMund DVD player and theres just the innards of a £20 pioneer inside.

They stick up for their purchases saying that if other people had the money they would buy quality etc etc etc. That's not the case; if I was a millionaire I wouldn't buy it because its plainly and simply a scam.
