Sigh, another dead xbox... Think I'm on my 5th/6th now?!

Phone up MS as my internet died, so couldn't do the online jobby. Spoke to a real helpful chap who was enquiring about an exchange (rather than a repair), who after leaving me on hold for 15 minutes hung up on me by what I presume to be an accident.

So I phone back and get through a completely and utterly, unhelpful cretin, who refuses to do any thing for me, tries to charge me for my xbox (even though it's within Warrenty) and just couldn't tell his arse, from his elbow.

So yea, pretty annoyed. Thinking of moving over to the PS3 now, as I'm fed up with the unreliability of the xbox.

*sigh*

Every company has their resident muppet behind the helplines, going to a PS3 won't help this sadly. I had to argue till blue in the face to persuade them that their hadn't repaired my replacement unit correctly and the fan was spinning up needlessly. I'm not saying don't go to the PS3 if you're fed up with the rather high number of failures you've experienced, as it would be difficult to argue that the PS3 wasn't more reliable, just don't expect the guys on the other end of the phone at Sony to be any less cretinous than those at Microsoft.

'You won't hear it so much if you put it behind the television', yeah, nice one moron.

It just astounds me how crap these consoles are. Mine doesn't move, has clear ventalation all around it, and is on a sturdy computer desk. But they just can't supply me with a console which would last any considerable time... Rubbish.

Ask to speak to someone higher up, tell them you're on your 5th/6th xbox and you demand a free replacement. My friend did this on his 4th xbox and managed to get a free replacement out of warranty and he got Perfect Dark 0 with it also.

Mine's still going strong but I've only had mine a year now (famous last words).

I have a jasper 360 will let you know how It goes watch this forum for "oh my god microsoft still hasn't fixed the damn thing"

I would probably look at where its kept and the conditions before blaming MS.

Try saying that to people like dannyjo who have gone through even more but i know for a fact put their console in an appropriate place. It isn't to do with storage conditions, it's to do with the design being inherently flawed.

All the people who i know who have had multiple xboxes due to them breaking (on mate 12 replacements!) have had their xbox set up so its prone to over heating. Pics or i dont believe its not well ventilated :).

Exactly, talk the Mrs and she will tell you it gets better treatment than her. I reckon I've had 10, I've honestly lost count and have to keep a spread sheet on old serial numbers for warranty purposes.

I know exactly how Hilly feels and I have to then go through the battle each time of getting my DLC transferred which I'm currently trying to build the enthusiam to go through yet again.

Yeah it's nothing to do with it being a design flaw. Everybody knows that you should stand the 360 on a stone pedastal in the centre of a well ventilated room which has been chilled to 5 degrees c. Otherwise you are just asking for them to die tbh.

But seriousley, some of you guys have a lot more patients than me. If I got one RROD I would be ****ed off, after two I would be damn right annoyed but three and I wouldn't touch a 360 again.!!!

I have mine sat on a shelf with it's back as close to the wall as it will go, my sub at one side and my ps3 sat on top of it, my ps3 died and my 360 is still going strong even though I have had it about 6-8 months longer than my ps3

There you go, see plenty of room! Xbox doesn't get moved at all. Gets treated well, like streeteh says, it's a flawed design.
