Right, Installed my new Raid 10 array today with a PCI card in my existing Abit AN7 board. I then intended to move my data from my old array using the existing onboard controller but booting from the new array. New vista installation boots into vista fine, detects the old array and installs what vista felt was the appropriate driver. Driver reports as the chip working properly but the hard disks on that controller are not detected. Switched back to an old XP driver fearing that the new driver did not work with the bios version. Nope still nothing. Worse is that now when I remove my new array by unplugging and taking out the PCI card controller and boot from the onboard controller (the old array) windows will now not boot! It starts to load and just before it should go into the windows green startup screen it resets! So I'm stuck with not being able to boot my old windows and not being able to take off the data by using the new array! Any ideas for extracting the data please?

Two things to try

1) Hit F8 when the machine resets, if it's BSODing and auto restarting there should be an option in the boot menu to turn that off so that you can see the errror.

2) Try sticking the controller card back in on it's own. It's a long shot but you never know.

Hi m8, tried all that. What I have done now is to shove one of the hard disks in to the missuses machine which has the same raid controller but boots from an ide disk. Then I'm just going to extract what I need with a bit of luck.
