ARGh, so lame, just come out the pub, ok, its almost 3am, but thats besides the point.

Me, the 3 managers/owners of the pub, and 2 regulars had to break up a fight between about 9 guys, one of which was a regular, the rest were his mates, over the STUPID reason of someone oweing someone a freaking CIGARETTE.

Sorry to bore you all with this, it's just SO annoying after having a great night out, it has to be spoilt by ***** who basically can't handle their drink

[/rant]

sorry btw, just blowing off steam(a lot of steam)

You're right, there are much better things to be fighting over. A cancerous stick of death isn't one of them!

I've dealt with far worse. I defended a lad from six idiots who attacked him simply for not giving up his seat. I got the biggest of them in a headlock and proceeded to show his skull the blunt, heavy end of my radio while shouting at the rest to 'back off or you get the same' and all the while, the victim cowered behind me. Luckily for me, it paid off and I soon had the rest of the my Stewards on hand to help with the dragging out. Just goes to show that the old adage is true, bullies are really just cowards.

well, tbh, some of the guy's who left the pub.... *cough* :p
dunno how to take that..

but, yeah i hate going out to clubs, etc and seeing stupid fights break out. most of the time its cos the dude stepped on another dudes foot or something..

and.. yeah its always asian (indians) that start fights for no reasons

i'm indian, but tbh, i prefered my uni nights which consisted of more whites where more drinks were spilt, more foots were stepped on, but everything was always chilled..

edit: okay not ALWAYS indians.. but more or less, if its a stupid reason, then yes, them..

It does get rather stupid what people will fight over but thankfully this week (so far) no-one actually tried anything on, last week I had to step into the middle of a fight because someone was being stupid - a 6'+ reach comes in handy at this point. :)

I wouldn't say that. Go to somewhere like Bromley and the fights are almost solely white. Normally it's some thugs out spoiling for a fight and the victim is which ever poor bloke who gets in the way and ends up with a beating.

I haven't been up there for years, I don't like the atmosphere, but since all the rough hooded black kids that used to start all the trouble on the high street when I was in my early 20's (muggings, stealing mobile phones, tagging, scratching windows, shoplifting, stealing mopeds etc) are now all of drinking age I'm sure they're out causing trouble in the pubs instead. I see them all standing about at some pubs in Sydenham where I used to live. Same bunch, just older.

I thought 10 pints of Stella, a pointless fight, then a shish kebab was a fine English tradition.

I agree with what you're saying... but when you call it a cancerous stick of death I've got to say it does sound worth fighting over.
Exactly. Fighting over a cigarette is better than fighting over nothing at all. If the fight's on, it's on. Make it count for something.

I spent 13 years working in the pub trade......invariably fights are started by thugs who think they are big fish in little ponds, and cant handle they're drink.

It didnt matter who you were - fight = instant ban in my old gaff. That tended to weed out most of the undesirables.

You should get a license to drink and **** that start fights over nothing, should have there licence removed. Thus they couldn't legally by alcohol.

I don't get the whole get drunk = fight.

I've never felt like beating someone up when drunk.

I'm gonna get flamed for this but ......

If all bar people actually performed their job like professionals they would not have to deal with as many problems when closing time comes along.

I constantly see people get served when they can hardly slur two word together or stand up straight; not only is that illegal but if you are going to do it, don't go complaining about people not being able to handle their drink at closing time.

I know that mates can always buy for their drunken friends in a busy place and there will always be a percentage of ****s but some responsibility has to be shouldered by the bar staff.
