They'd just blame it on the suspension being too hard and differing from manufacturers specification tbh.

Goes without saying, also leave an hour for everything to discharge. :)

Doesnt matter about the hour thing. Just disconnect battery, remove old air bag. Refit airbag, connect battery and start it back up. As for light either get someone with computer equipment to turn it off or take the bulb out. :)

Dealer will charge MAXIMUM of £20 to reset the light using an examiner.

Personally i would, the system has capacitors that need to discharge :)

Firestar what are these firing mechanism and wires you mention? Can I remove them out a car at the scrappy with ease?

Yea, its the firing control module, i think its ontop of the transmission tunnel, under the carpet directly under the dash :)

IIRC been a while since i've owned a saxo.

Hmm seeing as its about as useful as a chocolate teapot anyway might just bolt the airbag unit in so it looks okay and get the light put out and leave it so its dis-functional. It didn't even seem to inflate much, just seen a little explosion and a puff of smoke.

Yeah true all I can tell you is my arm ****ing hurts and is constantly bleeding :/

Might just get something like this:

unless you find out why it deployed (hit a kerb at speed) its a bit pointless plugging a new one in.
according to the thatchams course for airbags i attended you must disconnect the battery for at least 20mins , as stated because the system has a stored charge.

yes i have seen them go off when fitted without, as i have seen the pretensioners go off when people have a dig around seat connectors.(not pretty sights.

my advice would be have the system checked over, first, or replace the bag ,without plugging in and remove the bulb. (make sure if you do this you tell any prospective buyers this was the course of action.)

you may require the airbag module, but without checking how many times it has fired its hard to know, for instance on a new mondeo it can have multiple detonations and be reset.

by the way you have i presume washed all affected areas as the powder is corosive. (when the old dears had there accident the first thing the hospital did was wash the bare skin. or it can burn).

Thanks for your advice, I think I will just go with an aftermarket wheel.

Washed the affected area thoroughly but haven't cleaned the car yet. Is it likely to affect seat fabrics etc?

it will be a bit of a ****** to get clean and yes i have seen interiors that have stained.(good reason for a quick wash and brush up)
on another tact, if you are still having problems with your arm , get to a doctor etc. as you may get an infection. not unheard of to break arms, i remember one young lady with a small rectangular imprint on her cheek (facial) seems she had been on the phone when the bag went off.........if the arm is bleeding from a direct result off the airbag then go now!

hate talking to dead people... :D

Just been out to car, seems having windows and sunroof open on way home did the trick, can't really see any powder anyway just stinks a bit still. Fabreeze anyone :D

Will nip to A and E in a bit! :(
