Argos going on strike

Just an update so far we been on strike for 3 days in total, and hopefully it will come to a conclusion soon. I didnt go on strike and left the union among about 7 other people on my shift. And i have to tell you the atmosphere is horrible, people who ive known for 3 years wont look at you, even if you shout to them they ignore you. Workers are talking behind your back calling you names, its just a bad place to work. Every mistake you make they will be watching you getting ready to report you. 1 blokes family was threatened because, hes got a lot of land and during the strike, he let argos put some trailers stay there.

Lol, sounds like the strikes at the height of Maggie's rein. Were there people screaming "SCAB!!" outside?

The Argos distribution centre in Lutterworth (where there have been strikes) is a joke. The permanent staff (who are the ones striking) get away with murder. The temporary staff who my colleague manages have a pick rate that is double of Argos staff and they get paid half the money. Every time I've been down on the floor the perms are slacking. They do not deserve a pay rise whatsoever.

Hopefully, and I can see it happening, they will reduce their headcount of permanent staff and increase their headcount of agency staff. Argos will get harder, and more, work for their money, without the threat of industrial action as agency staff can be replaced in an instant.

the people that won't speak to you sounds like a bunch of ****s.

If Argos are being so unfair, why can't they just move to somewhere that pays better? They have no skills and can be replaced, I can understand nurses striking for example. but this is a joke.

Any advice on how to deal with these people, so far even though there not talking to me. I keep trying to talk to them saying hello, all falls on deaf ears though. I just smile and laugh it off, which ticks some of them off a bit though, but they deserve it. What i cant get though is how you know these people for 3 years and they act like this, personally its made my trust in people dwindle a bit.

Never go to argos, hate having to look in a catalog, queue, hope it's not sold out since I checked stock, sit in queue then wait on them bringing me it.

Don't shop for it - lets retargos it!

Sod them, hope they go bust :-P

So much hate, you cant comment on a strike unless you have been in one or close to striking, I have seen what a strike can do to people, the fear of having to stop working and losing money is more than a laughing matter for you students/kids

You're wrong, people can comment if they've never been in one or close to one.

As for striking, personally if I don't like a job I get a new, better one.
