Maybe up the multis a little more, not the xp ones but the taming and gathering. People find it hard to spend all day on a 4 year old game.

Largely why I stopped playing on the other servers.
Although if being able to unlock certain things is going to be tied to level then maybe up the XP or allow all perks to be unlocked regardless of what level you are.
Servers are there, I just checked.

This 100%, default levels are way to grindy for certain things, when I was running servers for it a few years I used a custom XP curve and added quite a few levels to the cap for both player and dino.
The main one which I think was totally broken was the maturing rate for babies in the breeding mechanic, which at default would have you 'babysitting' them for 6-10 hours, before they could even eat from a trough, then if you missed the prompt to feed them by around 30s they died (on high level rex/spino/quetz anyway).
Anyway, I'd be up for joining in at some point, will have to shuffle some stuff between drives to make room, which was the reason I quit playing it before - What is the full install size with all maps now (and does it still 2-300GB spare space to install updates)?
It should do, was never tied to steam as far as I know (although did use the default steam query port so not 100%, but I can't imagine they'd have launched it on Epic and only be able to play with people who'd done the same!)

I'm getting hacked off with this issue and I don't know how to resolve it.
I tried disabling all mods, I tried deleting and reinstalling all mods and I tried switching the server to P2P instead of UPD and nothing has worked.
Other people can get on the servers fine.

Firewall?
I don't know anything about server set up but the unofficial one i play on has had this happen but can't remember how my mate resolved it.

I have disabled my firewall on both windows and now my router and still have the time out problem. So it isn't firewall related.
I wish ark had a log file to show what the problem is....
I have deleted the game and reinstalling, I already did a steam file check but this is my last option now.
EDIT: reinstall didn't fix it.

after reading the steam community forums for ARK, everybody who seems to host their own servers on their LAN cannot get on by remote logins are fine.
Seems like the dev needs to patch whatever they broke.
