Ok, this isn't medical, but I'm looking for some advice, as to whether something is normal or not.

If its not normal I'll happily go to a physio, but figured I'd check first with those in the know.

Anyway, basically did arms and chest yesterday, and have standard doms in chest.

Anyway, in my arms, the pain isn't in the bulk of the muscle, but more just above the elbow joint (on the inside) Just checking this is a normal place for muscle pain, rather than something more serious like tendon/ligament etc... Where I'll head off to a doc.

kd

Normal, if you're doing things like preacher curls or doing a full stretch on each type of curling movements

ye...thast why i ditched most arm work apart from a couple of sets after back workout or so. Pretty sure it was caused by doing HST back to back for 3 cycles :( Tendonitis in both arms over the last near 2 years. Right arms is good but left still giving me some minor grief.
If its bad enough...get some ibruprophen, ice and rest. What causes tendotis is the continual bashing of these tendons without enough rest, the tendons when sore/strained dont recover quite as fast as the muscle surrounding it...evetually they bcome inflamed..it isnt nice.

^ while it's true that tendons don't recover as fast as muscle, really this is only noticable from plyometric movements - certainly not bicep curls!

For tendons/other soft tissue to be getting grotty it's probably because they're not being used ideally (i.e. pulling off-axis), or something is dysfunctional in the biomechanical system. A common example of this is distal bicep insertion problems due to bad shoulder positioning due to tight shoulder internal rotators, which can lead to full blow tears when this weakened tissue is subjected to mixed grip deadlifting.

KD, if the pain doesn't go away and is made worse by further exercise, go and see a physio. It would also be worth checking out some of the shoulder stretches in the mobility thread.

Pain goes away, it's happened once before (how long should I be thinking pain should be going away in?)

That's the one ;)

Ignore icecold....:p

For the record it was 21's, so some full stretch.

Seems like the best option will be let it recover. Try it again, making sure form is 100% (probably let it slip slightly last time) and straight bending, rather than elbow kinking out slightly.

If it's still an issue, maybe go see a physio.

It shouldn't really hurt for more than a day if it's DOMS, all of those muscles are relatively small.

Try some self assesment of your shoulder with the stretches in the mobility thread, if there's any problem there it's pretty easy to deal with.

Well, if it's still hurting tonight we'll have had pain 24-48 hours after. (Kicked in at 24 hours)

Chest hurt last night, but is better now. So that was a kind of 20-36 hour pain.

To be honest, I could probably do with having a look at mobility in my elbows as it is. I broke one when I was younger, and I'm sure they twist out slightly when my palms are held upwards vertically in front of me.

Come on me bro

You may have had some other post exercise swelling/minor soft tissue trauma, 4 days is cripplingly long DOMS for arms!

Maybe, although it did just feel like typical doms. Day 3/4 were quite faint could just feel it when i flexed (which was very often, people be mirin yo)

I'm not saying it's impossible, I've just never experienced multiple day DOMS in anything other than leg/back.

Arm day, not even once

I miss full on crippling DOMS :(

You're not working hard enough.

Alternatively you're just too godly now a days, and I'm too puny definitely wasn't only 7.5kg on each dumbell...

It does feel DOMSish, just a bit of a weird location :s

Hmm, we shall see once it's recovered xD

Workout was Saturday night... We shall see if it still hurts in the morning. But chest is fine, and arm's still hurt oddly...

In all seriousness I probably don't do the same intensity/volume on anything that isn't legs/back.

Inverse beach bro checking in.

Edit: Actually, I've had week long ab DOMS before. That was horrible.
