the way the engine works is that you have 2 resolution settings, your standard one and a 3D one,
basically the first is for pumping out menus etc with the second doing all the grunt and making it look pretty.

in short this game is going to look like cack since even if you have all the filters, aa etc on if the 3d res is low none of it matters.

this wont take off, people who want to play this game already have it and are deep into it...i cant see the free model working since your average billy will play it for 2 seconds realise it isnt bf or cod and never play it again, that with the sub-par graphics of the free model will also hamper it.

Will free people be able to join PROPER servers? They should have just said buy the gold pack for £5. They are the worst company I know for bringing out so many different versions of the same game, so messy.

huh? theres only 1 version of the game....
The rest is an expansion (a worthy expansion) and dlc that you DONT need to buy to play the game.

and I didnt think Gold exisited, not for Arma 2 anyway. The only way Gold exists for Arma2 is an illegal download. :rolleyes:

It means the textures for objects/landscape are of lower quality than the normal and will look worse

the screen resolution is in your control as is the render resolution( you can render at diff res than display then upscale or downscale it)

Yea I read about this on pc gamer, pretty sweet!

I think you miss out on the sp and the graphics can't be bumped up to highest setting with the free version but regardless I will be dl it when it becomes available in July.

there is also NO mod support which alienates you from the entire current arma2 community. The idea is, you like it, you buy it. I know our clan will be going onto free servers to show off and pull in recruits. many other will no doubt do the same.

Just downloaded it and it's redirected me to the website to get the access code, but cannot find it?? tells me its on the back page of the field manual but you'd only get this if you had bought the game?!
