Arma 2

You have to remember that unlike most games all that gunfire is actual units fighting and trying to kill each other.

Yep a lot of gamers tend to forget this. These Bohemia titles are unique in this respect, I mean utterly unique. In OFP, I would sometimes just watch battles play out and had a warm feeling inside seeing the stuff that would go on. Arma2, regardless of bugs, delivers on this point and then some!

sorry for the stupid question but......... is this game actually worth buying ? ive played fps for around 10 years and quite like the "realistic" element of some of them , i enjoyed playing red orchestra , i like hardcore modes in cod4 and waw , i played BF2 for years but didnt like project reality, so is this the kind of game i might go for ?

I notice this isnt for sale on steam for another week ? whys that then ? also its £29.99 on steam but £22 at places like the rainforest for some strange reason

also im wodering how it will run on my:

e6600 @ 3.3Ghz
4850 @ 700/1100
4gb kingston 8500

im really 50/50 about buying this, maybe i should wait for the demo and then make my mind up ?

I have cod's and moh and others

This is so far the most enjoyable fun i've played in years

If you want to spawn right into a battle then forget it

If you like realistic and can run or helo/vehicle towards a battle then this is for you, Just had a run as a sniper, helo'd into a lz and yomped into hot spot, got nailed 3 times by snipers lol, still i persisted and got a few sniper kills in myself

Absolutely immersing fun

Had mine on pre-order at game, came 9:30am friday (release day) Totally addicted to it now lol

I read someone saying they didn't like the bf2 reality project, and said after trying arma2 they didn't like this either, so i guess if you didn't like bf2 reality then arma2 is not for you (maybe)

I thought the animations were amazing as they were - but at slow motion I'm even more impressed ! amazing

btw jump to 1 min in

My god that dialogue is going to drive me insane. It's like the Micheal McIntyre **** take of Joules Holland..

"BAD! LY! DRAWN! BOY!"

Indeed, it's terrible, worse than Operation Flashpoint even. The voice itself is good, but so much of it sounds so disjointed. Shame really, I was hoping that was one thing they'd have improved.

Game itself looks rather impressive though, may pick this one up in a few months. What was the original ArmA like, worth a go before playing this one?

Arma was good if buggy - and ran badly (worse than Arma 2 if you have a decent machine)

Arma 2 is blowing me away as one of the best games in years :)

Cheers for that. Still watching that first of the three YouTube vids linked above, and I'm really getting into it just from that! Looks awesome. I've got OpFlash and the two expansions but never completed them (even though I really enjoyed them), makes me wish I had now!

Another will it run question? My rig is quite old now, but hoping it could run this with everything on low.

C2D 1.8
8600gt
4gb RAM

(old Dell laptop)

Would it run OK? I'm desperate to play this game and can't really afford a new rig :(

BF2/COD4 have absolutely zero realism no matter which mod/mode you are playing.

If you didn't like the project reality mod on BF2 there's every chance you won't like any of the ArmA games.

Dont bother buying it , you probably wont like it
Try the demo and see how it feels

i got bored after 3 mins :(

How!?

Played a little online last night, me and 2 mates pile into a chopper and off to the heat we go, kin' awesome, i'm still a complete newb at it tho, clumsy with the controls and some of the missions leave me scratching my head, look for "close quarters battle" in the server list to get into something easy.

Watching the vid, i havent even bothered playing the game yet

Well if the original can do this:
, the addon possibilities for Arma2 will be very interesting...

That is the best machinima I've seen in ages, thanks for posting!
