Hi Guys,

Need to upgrade, I am mainly playing Arma 3 and or some other Steam titles.

Playing on a 23" - Resolution 1920x1080p

Budget - £2000.

I don't need Screen, Case...I might need PSU upgrade as currently

Are you currently using the system in your sig ? If so then you probably only need a graphics card upgrade if your current one is struggling. The i7 2600K is still a very good cpu. At 1080p the GTX 970 or R9 390 is a good choice.

Also did you mean to type something else regarding your psu ?

The issue is my motherboard, it won't recognize all the slots having Ram.
So i am running only 4GB of ram.

I play a LOT of arma3 , see my sig for my Spec
I game at 1920 x 1200

New GFX card would be a good choice

In what configuration is your RAM (how many sticks of what size)

You have your CPU at 4.5ghz! mine is 3.4GHZ and you have a 980ti...I don't have anything similar and my CPU won't clock i have tried or just suck at it :)

Download the ASUS AI Suite and let it overclock for you then :)

Find the drivers page for your motherboard and it'll be listed there.

There's a massive performance increase from a stock 3.4GHz to 4GHz to 4.5GHz etc.

I was really just hoping to buy new kit...sell the I7-2600k and start a fresh :)

Question does anyone know, whether the EK Predator 240 can fit this mobo MSI X99A Gaming 9 ACK Intel X99?

@Op did you buy your ram all together at once or 2 seperate kits ?

I had issues with 2 x 4G , then buying another 2 x 4G (same make same model same manufacturer , that would not play ball together ended up selling both and buy 2 x 8G kit , worked great

As regards OCing your CPU , switch off HT before trying it and see if that helps

All bought together from OCUK. G.Skill was working....it all started after I replaced my card with a 390x wouldn't boot then PC would not boot with old GFX card, removed ram and it booted.

4gb but I only have 2x sticks in. If I load the other ram modules no boot. And if I swap the ram I just added with what was perfect it does but so Ram isn't faulty.

DDR3 is dirt-cheap at the moment. Either get a 2x8GB kit or try and hunt down a replacement motherboard. Add a new GPU and you're away.

Having upgraded my CPU for Arma 3 i was actually a little disappointed with the results (there is a thread from a while back about it) however i found that CPU upgrade made quite a bit of difference, I went from 2500k @4.8 to a 4790k @ 4.8 and there was a clear 8-10fps difference. I also upgraded to 2666 ram extra couple of frames there too. i would have to say CPU and Ram is fairly key with Arma 3 imo. My 980 does not even think of breaking a sweat playing arma but turning up that draw distance really hits the cpu hard.

I am not fussed about having to buy new PC. I got £2k budget just want to not waste it on stuff that won't benefit. so sounds like a Better CPU and a above average GFX card is enough.
