I run arma 3 nicely on my sig rig but the game is 32 bit (can access the full 4gb though if you have 8) and heavily CPU bound.

My dad manages on an i5 760 at 3.8 and an overclocked 470.

There will be an update to arma (not sure when) and if you can manage on your rig I would just wait and buy then.

Otherwise 6700k overclocked, single 970 and 8gb would serve you well.

I get 60fps with decent draw distances in missions that don't over tax the CPU.

Edit just been reminded by the post above. Yes Arma 3 does benefit from fast ram.

All you need to do is clock your CPU to like 4.2, get a 4GB GPU, loosen your ram clocks to get the full 8GB working (not that you really need more than 4GB for arma3) and, er... that's it. You don't need to spend £2k.

Fwiw i run [email protected] (with arma3) x2 290@stock (not that more than one 290 is needed for arma@1080p, but it does allow for epic super sampling).

Works great.

I've seen the gpu memory go up to 3.8GB (hence the gpu with at least 4GB ram) with 150% super sampling, never seen system ram use more than 3GB.

1 million % get an SSD if you don't have one already, makes arma loading sweeeeeet.

If you really want to spend 2k on a new PC, then I think I would go for a 5820k build. (not because you need an i7 for arma3, but because I was spending 2k)

Why not a 5820k? Are you aiming for tri sli or pci-e ssd throughput?

If it's not too late to change your mind I would go 5820k, lower PSU and 980ti.

I'm not trying to be a killjoy but unless you intend to make the most of that cpu and psu you are not getting value for money.

Pretty sure you don't need a 5930 for sli and a 5820 is faster. Just bear it in mind.

You don't need a 1300w psu for what you're planning...imo.

Cheers McGraw! Anyone good at Overclocking want to help me Clock my new Processor...I want to try and get 4.5ghz as a minimum

Oh and going back to FPS I currently get 17 fps with 2 people on our Arma Server lol. So anything is going to be a great step-up, that was on Ultra, if I run on Low I get 37fps

My system pulls 60-80fps, on a Breaking Point server with 14 people.

You should be able to get 35 fps, depending on the server/game mode etc.
