Arma II Demo on Thurs 25th June

Im running Windows 7 x64, will this kill 30% of my framerate too? And also why? I've not heard of the x64 platforms killing performance before (or have i jsut been dumb)

I think we found that Win 7 x64 wasnt as bad as Vista. I can't remember the stats for that. Vista is definitely bad. XP 32bit is the best for ARMA2 performance.

My specs -Pentium D 805, 8800gts 320mb, 2gb ram, XP. Will I have to turn the settings right down to get acceptable framrates?
Yes. The game is heavily processor reliant. I would say you will struggle to run at anything higher than low.

where did you find this? have you benchmarked yourself? Any results to link to please? As i will dual boot my pc to xp 32bit if its gona actually be a whole 30% faster..

Yay! Hoping this isn't a +2gb download.

The developers in the thread over at BIS have confirmed "Size will be around 2 GB." Hopefully it isn't ISP monthly bandwidth caps that's giving you concerns over size. If it is then download at work/uni/school/friend's house etc :)

Tests were performed by members of this very forum and can be found in the BIG ARMA 2 thread.. I'll leave it to you to find them.

I specifically remember 1 member reporting that frames in his Vista boot were 20-30 and jumped to 40-50 for XP.

That article does not mention ARMA2. We are talking real world figures on real peoples machines from this forum actually running the game.

Even if its clocked at 4Ghz? ;)
ARMA responds better to more cores not a higher clock rate. But you might be ok at low-normal.

Core2 T7200@2Ghz
4Gig Ram
7950GTX (512mb)
Native res is 1920 x 1200
I dont know much about your components to estimate well, but at 1920x1200 I wouldnt be too hopeful. Are 7950s dual GPU cards? Either way your processor has 2 cores at low clock speed, which could inhibit performance severely.

Right, I'm not going to answer everyone's "how will my spec run" requests. You can look in the big thread on Page 20 (at 80ppp) how well its running on a variety of machines.

Bakes, your machine will be fine. You have a decent graphics card, decent memory. If you OC your processor then you will probably be playing at med-high at that resolution.

Depends on what OS you use/what frames you find acceptable.
