Armed Assault 1.11 Beta patch

Because for this day and age what it has to offer and how it offers it is pretty ****ing awful.

Hmm. Well I've just had a quick blast with the mods and 1.11 beta patch. Set everything to v.high and away I went. Seemed to go well, and I enjoyed it. Only thing that still nags me is that sometimes the AI gets confused with waypoints, etc. But apart from that, I had great fun blowing up some BMP-1's. :D

Does the AI still possess telescopic sight and the ability to kill you with a single shot through the head at 9000 meters whilst your hiding in a bush?

This is the only reason I stopped playing it. Great, great game but the god-like AI made it unplayable (performance was great for me!). I remember one level where you need to protect an engineer or something and you just get owned by some hostile shooting through loads of foliage. Completely ruined it!

I'm guessing as no one has said "muffin it's different now bud", things are exactly the same :(

I'm tempted to get back into it. I bought it before it even came out in the UK (Czech download).

Bugger if I can find all the emails and stuff!

Arma Gold just got delivered, do I only need the 1.11 patch, or all the others before?

I'm vista 64, anything else I should know?

You'll need the patches that bring it up to version 1.08 (the last official version) then just install version 1.11 on the top. With v1.11 being a beta, it creates a new shortcut .exe in the game folder so it runs seperate from the official version, which is handy. :)

Doesn't matter, can't even run it with 4gb ram, will have to take a 2gb stick out to run it.

On the shelf it goes.

Well that was a nice waste of £15

Couldn't find 1.0, 1.01, 1.02, 1.04 anywhere, so got the 1.05 said I already had 1.08 installed.

Installed the 1.11 beta patch, tried to start Arma, took about 5 minutes of black screen, followed by 5 black boxes and some weird background, google'd and it appears it's because I have 4gb, only way to solve it to take out a stick, which I won't do, because;

A) I shouldn't ****ing have to.
B) It's far too much effort.

Here you go mate:-

64-bit Windows with 4GB RAM, black loading screen

Until either Bohemia Interactive, Microsoft or the Video Card producers come up with a solution, you can workaround this problem by limiting your System Memory to 3GB by a simple change of settings and a reboot:

Press windowskey+R, and run msconfig
At the boot tab, pick advanced options and put maximum memory to 3072
Reboot

You can also revert the setting by above method to get your full 4GB back.

More methods might be listed soon, together with a method to get a selection screen at system boot up to pick "Normal Operation" and "Limited to 3GB".

You could add this selection by using command-line tool (administrator-privileges needed) BCDEdit with following commands:

bcdedit /copy {current} /d "Limited to 3GB"
bcdedit /set {Insert given new entry ID here} truncatememory 3221225472
