I decided to try out the Armed Assault demo before I buy it, it looks awsome in all the videos I have watched on youtube, etc.

My PC has the following specs, and it has a fresh install of Windows XP - all other games are running fine without lag.

Intel Core 2 Duo (Dual-core) 2.0Ghz
2GB 533Mhz RAM
nVidia 7900GS
100GB 7200RPM HDD

Yet the ArmA demo is INSANELY laggy... I mean, have to play it at 800x600 resolution (even though my screen is 1920x1200 res!!!!) with all low settings before it is just about playable, but then it looks absolutely pants.
I remember trying ArmA out before and it was the same.

Is it always this laggy? It is virtually unplayable and this is on the single-player demo.

I had the game and sold it because it performed so badly on my 7950GX2 and E6700 (3.6ghz) and actually still looked rubbish.

shockingly badly coded is my guess

ive jsut started playing arma and enjoying coop missions with people , going from 1 city to the next wiping out enemys is really good fun and theres no other game like it so far

Same here, my specs are similiar to matt100's and not only did it look bad, it also ran badly.I enjoyed operation flashpoint despite the dodgy graphics but this was dire.

You still need a beast of a PC to run it well though. I am considering a 3870xt to see if that helps performance, as I have just started playing the game again.

v1.8 patched solved the performance issues :)

Did it? I uninstalled it due to really bad lag... performance wasn't too bad, just a lot of graphic glitches like textures not loading etc. Is it worth giving it another go?

The Kellys Heroes server has a lot of different game modes, which are fun. However, EVO Blue is a good laugh with the nukes and all.

Is a graphics intense game, also try turning down the post processing effects. Also have a look at the tweak guides forum.

My clan runs a good server and planning a fun night 21/11/07 all welcome to say hello and take a gander.

I never play the single player campaign but do FPS drop significantly in multi player compared to single player?
