Arrested for posting pictures

If he posted them with intention of causing distress/offence then why would they not, when those men gave their lives for our sake?

Very disrespectful

Waste of time. You have no right to not be offended. People gave their lives so you'd have the freedom to be able to express yourself. Even if you disagree with the burning of poppies, you have to be either ignorant, or have something wrong with you to endorse the arrest of this man.

Missing the point.

While I agree it's disrespectful, it should not be a criminal offence.

Besides, I'd argue that the men & women who died in the war would be turning in their graves to know how much of a big brother state we had become & how little we value our freedom of speech.

I honestly couldn't care less about someone posting that.

I don't agree with it, and I think it shows that he's a ****, but it's definitely not worthy of an arrest :\

the man, from Aylesham, was detained on Sunday night on suspicion of making malicious telecommunications

Jesus, is that what the world has come to? Don't show them this forum, loads of us will be screwed.

Exactly, while being a douche-bag may be frowned upon, it shouldn't be illegal.

As others has rightly said earlier in this thread, nobody has to right to not be offended.

This is just getting ridiculous now.

We are in danger of becoming leftwing fascists at this rate.

I dunno how our politicians have the nerve to criticise Russia over the handling of pussy riot, lauding "free speech" when it suits then arresting our own for something as pathetic as this?

I really don't like the precedents these new laws and arrests are setting. It's very easy to look at this story and think "well I disagree with burning poppies therefore I have no sympathy for the man" and I'm just as disgusted by his actions but fighting for his right to do it without fear of prosecution is far more important to me.

People getting arrested for saying things on the internet is getting beyond a joke now, next thing you know free speech will be gone.

Don't be absurd. Protecting moral standards in society is hugely important - the guy is a complete ****. As soon as we allow things like this to pass, you end up with places like Westboro Baptist Church picketing the funerals of dead soldiers and breaking no laws. As a society we should stand up for what is right.
