Arrggh, Why cant men take a hint!!

I reckon you've left too much room for misinterpretation there, as evidenced by the reply if nothing else. Also you haven't really given any background here, you want to get to know the bloke more but have you said anything else to him or been flirting or have you just smiled shyly when he looks your way? I'm hardly an expert at taking hints but I can possibly see where you or he has gone wrong. :)

You've changed your tune from when I was trying to date you :p You were babbling on about me having a girlfriend meaning you weren't interested or something!
 
Hes sort of a friend of a friend, he txts me about every other day just saying hello, or if somethings happened at footy etc, or where im watching the game etc, which is why I thought id be brave and try and ask him about the reserves game next week. Maybe hes just rubbish at taking a hint.
 
I know its a week away, but do you fancy going to the reserves game next Wednesday, followed by a couple of drinks........

now if he does not get the hint he is just stupid lol:)

i dont have any experience with this kind of stuff but i agree with wicksta, if he was interested he would have read that differently. the text seemed pretty obvious, even to someone like me

I can still see why he might not have taken it as a direct hint, so far it sounds rather like you might just be buddies/slightly more than passing acquaintances and since it seems you are frequently at the football it probably doesn't strike him as an unusual question. If you took some of the other advice in the thread and perhaps suggest going for a drink after the game together - don't forget that part or tell him he is your date for the match then that counts as a direct hint. Not least because you have then stepped away from something that you would normally do and that he might expect.

My advice might not be worth taking but it should at least settle the question for you. :)

This is pretty accurate except for the bit about there being men who can take a hint - they don't exist. At least, not ones who can do it accurately, which you do sort of say.

Remember the old rule: men can't understand subtle hints. They can't understand obvious hints. Tell them what you want.

Short of actually snogging the guy, the only way to be sure is ask him out directly. Oh - and not by text either. And d*mmit I'm too old...
