Ok so this morning I have done a complete fresh install of windows 7. I did this from booting from the windows 7 disk, install, custom install and deleted everything (partitions the lot). Why you may ask? Was an idiot last night and opened an attachement that contained some malware. Its been so long since Ive done a fresh install I thought no problem ill start over.

The problem I have is that ive installed windows to my SSD but my 500gb seagate harddrive is nowehere to be seen! What have I done wrong :(.

p.s looking for solutions online too but you guys have been my knights before :(.

You'll probably need to create a partition on it. If you open Disk Management you should see the drive, Just right click on it and select create partition (Or words to that effect)

I have this problem with my PC when i do a fresh install and the only way i can get the hard drive to show up is to go into the bios and load optimized defaults and save and after i restart the hard drive appears

Im using a gigabyte sniper m3

Basically it showed as unallocated disk space in computer management. So I had to right click on the unallocated and create new volume :S. Never done it this way in the past from memory but it seems to be working fine now. Anyone else heard of this before?

If you deleted all the partitions on install, then it's normal. You have to make a partition on a disk before you can use it. Windows normally does that as part of the OS install, but as you installed to a SSD, that's where it made it's partitions, and left the HDD alone.

That's why MS provide disk management software after the fact - so you can set up your other disks.
