Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas wary of Ipswich threat

If you read it, what he says make senses.

That's the nature of a cup competition, irrespective of the opponents one bad day and Arsenal exit. Leeds weren't bad on Saturday but our wastefulness, most likely due to thinking we'd already got it into the bag meant we ended up seconds away from elimination.

Plus he's hardly likely to come and say "oh boy yeah, we're going to ass them bad. Real bad".

When I read the thread title I thought we were talking about Football Manager. But yeah, seriously, it's Ipswich without their manager so maybe he's just saying it to not appear arrogant.

He's captain of a squad who were going to lose to a Championship team without his help, and who regularly and consistently half-arse their way through games against teams they should beat comfortably. I'd say he's well on the money to warn against complacency.

Yep spot on...after the shambles of the weekend against Leeds who we couldnt beat by scoring goals...we needed a penalty to draw...id say Fabregas is spot on with his comments...i hope we do spank Ipswich but tbh with the way our season has been going...i wouldnt be at all suprised if we struggle to score goals against them tonight....im pretty sure ipswich are going to be up for this big time.

Not surprising. When do you ever hear players/managers harp on about an easy game?

League 1 side beat Prem champions (at the time) last year :p

I don't know who Wenger will play, considering the ridiculous time since our last cup you'd think the overly youth oriented squads for the league cup will be a bit more experienced this time out.

We also have a few players who tend to have a bit of an ego and think these games will be easy and put in as little effort as possible.

Ipswich are a wounded animal at the moment, probably more dangerous than a side with consistant decent form. A side with real form playing well, you really know how good they are, a side with no form, you have no idea what kind of performance they can pull out of no where. If you have players, especially some youngsters who think they are playing bottom of the CHampionship team and a team who suddenly click for one game turn up then you can have a problem.

Younger players need to hear from senior players that even games like these are NOT routine and you can't half arse it because they aren't normally playing well at the moment.

When we play an almost exclusively youth team plus say Bendtner and Vela, we play well as you've got a defence, a midfield and a strike force that play with each other. Its often when Wenger mixes the sides TOO much, and you have 2 midfielders and defenders, from the reserves and 2 from the first team or bench, then they aren't used to playing with each other and it goes to crap, we've been caught out MORE often when we mix teams later in a competition than we do earlier in a competition when we stick with basically a team that plays and trains together constantly.

When will they get rid of these stupid systems of "tackling" and "getting in the way of Arsenal passes" in football anyway.

The ball is round not oval both have 11 players to start with and they both play to the same rules, yet playing different is anti football, no its football, adjust your tactics to the style of play the opponents is playing.

If you take your feelings for Fabregas out of the equation, they were mostly just punting the ball and chasing it a la rugby, he did say several times that they played well and credit to them also.

It's also why our national game is in such a dire state, it's what English teams do seem to revert to, most of you are happy to complain at the way our national team play and our inadequacies when a team who can play proper football plays us off the park, be it Belarus or France or Spain etc. etc.
