I've been fairly dissapointed with the temps i have been getting from my arctic freezer and with all the great things i've read about the scythe ninja i was wondering if it was worth upgrading?

My temps are currently just under 40c idle and up to 51c full load!

I've got some spare 120mm fans lying around so hands up if you think its worth doing as im hovering over that "buy" button...

I am in a similar predicament. Although I have opted to replace my 9500 with an SI 120.
My Temps are 40c idle and 55c both cores loaded. The Zalmon 9500 has a warped interface block only contacting 33% of the cpu.

The Ninja is lust too huge and the fins are too far apart. It could be so much smaller and just as effective.

the size doesnt bother me (as long it fits!) im more concerned about the price... i dont really have the money to waste but i've been diagnosed as a binge spender so cant help myself really ;)

Another question... as im also going for quietness would it be a good idea to turn the rear case fan around and have it blow at a fanless ninja? or would this ruin airflow through the case?

personally i would say that it would ruin the airflow, is it the freezer 64 pro or the standard freezer that you have? as i have my opty 148 @ 2.8ghz idle 28/29 & load of around 38/39 with my freezer 64 pro, i also have been contemplating making use of my panaflo m1A fan that's sitting around with either a Xp-120 or Scythe but i can't really see a big change tbh

I have the 64 pro and im not quite sure why my temps arnt as good as many others here really. I thought i'd fluffed up the first installation so i re seated it with some as5 which helped by 1 or 2 degrees which still isnt great

I dont think im getting enough airflow through the case tbh, case temps are between 30-40c, is that ok?

Alright mate,

It can depend on case size and the actual amount of fans. Do you have a balance of fans blowing in and exhausting? My system is usually around 28 degrees. Then again I have a crossflow fan on my CMS Stacker. 2x120mm Fans blowing in through the front and one extracting. My Artctic Cooler blows into the 120mm fan blowing out. Plus the case is rather large, my Graphics Card exhausts the air out of the back of the case. Anyway I'm prattlin' on.

I think it might be down to the amount of airflow or lack of mate. If your case isnt getting enough cool air in or isn't exhausting enough hot air then your HS/Fan isn't going to be able to effectively cool.

Hey Benny,

Yeah i think that is the main problem. I have 2 120mm akasa ambers blowing full pelt at the front and rear but i also have 3 hdds which seriously blocks the intake on my lanboy. It doesnt help that my 7800 blows air the wrong way either!

So many things i want and so little money :( I've been hovering over the "complete checkout" button for a PC-7 and a few other bits for the last couple of days now... dont think i'll be able to resist much longer.
