I recently bought a sapphire hd 7850 oc edition, the other day I noticed artifacts in firefox, a triangle shaped chequer pattern in the upper right, across the menu/address/bookmark bar.

If I switch to a different program then back to firefox it goes away, even if I switch to something that doesn't cover the affected area, or even if I switch to the firefox downloads box.

Is this likely to be a graphics card fault or a firefox fault?

I'm not 100% sure it ONLY happens in firefox, it could pop up in games but come and go so fast that I don't notice. It's happened about 4-5 times in the last week. If I remember, next time it happens I'll take a photo.

I hope it's not the card, I'm just starting to get into a few games that the built in graphics in my 3570k just won't handle well at all!!

Just had a thought - Print Screen!

When it next happens, I'll hit print screen and see if the chequer pattern is there still, if it is, it's firefox, if it isn't, it's the card!

Yeah had this happen to me with firefox and waterfox. Resolved it by disabling use GPU accelerator and this cured the issue..

Bit of a wierd one, facebook chat and google preview plugin for firefox did it loads to the point I searched out a fix for it..

Must be a problem with AMD drivers, it happened soon as I went to 13.11..

That's a relief! As long as it's not failing/faulty hardware.

I'm currently using CCC 13.1, I might try the 13.3 beta, it hasn't happened for a while now though!

yep I get the same problem with FF since 12.11, I just disable the accelerator. doesnt affect how firefox runs.

I actually noticed this when I did a clean install of Windows 8 on my laptop with the ones Windows found in Windows update (not 100% sure what ones they were). Installing 13.1 over the top seems to have fixed it though.
