artifacts

Not usually no. Normally caused by an unstable overclock, lack of voltage, over heating or a faulty gpu.

If you used "FAR TOO MUCH" thermal paste it may be causing higher temps in the GPU and if you used "FAR FAR TOO MUCH" it could have easily squelched out anywhere and be conducting or insulating circuits and components that it is touching that it shouldn't be.

That's why I'm askin as I've noticed the origina stuff had went a over the tiny wee capacitors surrounding the gpu die and its impossible to remove the stuff as its went quite hard. Gpu works fine until u either game or bench then 3 or 4 mins in, usually 16/18 on valley, artifacts like mad which made me think it was overheating although gpu temp is at 31c

Hello can artifacts on gpu be caused by using far too much thermal paste???

Usually artifacts are caused either by too high an overclock or problems relating to the VRAM.

However, too much thermal paste on the core would possibly cause an inefficiency is heat transfer, and as a result the core temp may increase resulting in graphical errors. Not saying it is likely, but it could be a contributing factor.

How can the gpu temp be at 31c during a heavily loaded benchmark? Are you using water-cooling - even then that would be a seriously impressive temp!

Here's some pics. 1st one is my gpu of course
