Hi,

I have the HIS Excalibur ATI Radeon X800 GTO ICEQII TURBO 256MB OcUK stock.
Heres a picture of the cooler:
volj7p.jpg

It's pretty beefy.
I have my card clocked to 530/1220 (400/980 Stock), so it gets very hot!
I was reaching over 65C in COD2 which was a lot hotter than anything else, the rest of the computer is sub 40C.
About a month ago I picked up a 12g tube of AS5 which I didn't really need but it was cheap :D
So I decided to put that on the cooler and now the temp doesn't go over 55C at the fan on the lowest setting (Its on a fan controller)!
Im quite pleased and hopefully it will stop the crashing.
I'll keep you posted.
I'm not sure if it was just put on a bit crapily or just not very good grease, but I'm pleased with the results.

A somewhat dissapointing 5807 3DMarks
I would have expected more, the Graphics card is holding me back but I'm not to bothered about a benchmark result :D.

3DMark Score 5807 3DMarks
GT1 - Return To Proxycon 26.1 FPS
GT2 - Firefly Forest 17.6 FPS
GT3 - Canyon Flight 27.3 FPS

CPU Score 5377 CPUMarks
CPU Test 1 2.8 FPS
CPU Test 2 4.6 FPS

You should consider getting a VF900 cooler on that. Knocked 30c off my X800XT-PE :)

edit: What did you use to overclock the card?

65c isnt really that hot for a graphics card, and that temp really shouldnt make it crash. Makes me think it just might not be stable at those clocks?

Yeah I found my old 6800gt was like 80 at load, with reapplying the heatsink with AS5 the highest it went was 69, idle without as5 at 60, with as5 at around 50.

I doubt this is all AS5 though, I jsut believe I fitted the heatsink a lot better and tighter than what Leadtek did, I also put as5 on the heatsinks.

My last post waas supposed to be sarcastic but whatever...
I tried unlocking the pipes but my fuses were incorrect, yours should be from the same batch as the others and should unlock.

Also have a HIS ICEQII type card & was just wondering if its hard to remove the cooler? If not please advise or point in the right direction on how to go about it :)

Thanks

Heat it up or it's a complete female dog to get off.
Just ten minutes of gaming should do it.
Power off the computer and remove the screws.
Its still going to be hard to get off but you just have to widdle it off, and don't lift one side up but not the other, lift it evenly.
It's quite straightforward.

Cool cool! i didnt have an AS5 compound left when i put my cpu and gpu fans on so i think il need to do that too! hopefulyl the temps will go down a bit but my processor is idling at 36 and the x1800xt is idling at 45 so not bad really :D

Cool, post with your results.
My Card Idles at a nice 35c.
Similiar to what it was doing before, but it doesn't rise as fast.
As soon as I opened up a game in the menu it was at about 55C lol.
'Twas Weird.
