Asbestos in walls or ceilings?

thanks so I got some quotes from people

the best quote I have got is £150 cash (obviously) and he will give me results within 48 hours
he has some good reviews online - looks like he works on his own too

other companies are a bit more expensive at £200 to £300

too many cowboys right?

Cash? Sounds dodgy.

Either way, make sure in writing what you are expected to receive in terms of report. For all you know, you could merely get a phone call and nothing reliable.

What are you worried about particularly? Unless you're about to smash it about it's fine.

Well eventually we will take out both fire places, and probably smash the ceiling to smithereens

Here are pictures of the two biggest rooms, the master bedroom and the living room:

notice that coving on the top in the living room - bit worried about that having something nasty in there, as well as the ceilings

Goodbye to the dado rail - the rooms need a bit of TLC
I'm torn about the fireplaces but actually I like the idea of more room :)

I would open up the fire place & have a wood burner or multifuel fire in there.

That picture rail, so old fashioned today, coving might just be plaster, or paper covered foam type.

Eventually I plan to go for under floor heating downstairs

upstairs radiators

picture rail very happy to remove it :)

well just to know if there is asbestos in there or not
peace of mind oc :)

Where do you draw the line?

Asbestos has been used in many products over the years, artex, tiles, flooring, roofing, water tanks, cylinder insulation covering, etc, etc, even some paints had it.

If you find it, it will cost thousands to remove it, need an approved removal contractor, so much grief, just be sensible, wear the correct mask for dust, eye protection, etc.
