Noticed it last week and its still going on. Over at asda boldon last week they had huge stock of rump steak and some good prices too. Same thing this week. So figured id let ppl know if they have an asda nearby. Not sure if its nationwide like as could be local.

Not that bad really is it? A nice inch thick at least too.

Yes, £9 a kilo for matured rump is pretty good. To be honest though, I would'nt buy rump unless it was reduced like this. It's normal price is only a quid a kilo cheaper than a decent sirloin, and I know which one I prefer.

When matured ribeye hits £10 a kilo which it did in my local Tesco's recently, that's when I get excited.

Tell us what it's like though.

Donald Russell charge £24 a kilo for Rump and £50 a kilo for sirloin

This is what i am using at the moment, as im using 600g a day for diet. So it's a pretty decent deal however Tesco has a deal on at the moment Half price Rump £7.00 per kg

Just not enough value in fillet for me. Sure it's nice, but for the money, I would still rather have a nice well marbled slab of rib-eye.

After buying and eating Donald Russell steak - I never buy any meat from supermarkets any more. I've become a meat snob and buy everything from Donald Russell. With Quidco, 20% off and free delivery it's just as easy to get it delivered and almost the same prices for the decent cuts.

4 fillet steaks for £36 at Donald Russell currently, with 20% off that is £7.20 for 150g of excellent fillet

15 days is just not matured let alone dry aged - look at the bright pink colour.... It is still full of moisture.

Sorry, but it's cheap for a reason. Eat less meat, eat better meat.

This is what aged/matured beef should look like - nom nom

This thread isnt about quality. It is about cheap offer at asda. If you want to talk about quality find a different thread really.

That said, Hodders' picture of dry-aged steak looks damn delicious *drool*

I've recently really gotten into pork shoulder as a cheap source of meat. £3/kg is pretty hard to argue with and slow-cooked is good :)

Beef-wise I prefer ribeye for steaks and shin for stews/slow-cooking.
