Asda, Morrisons... We Salute You!

So fox, will it go below 80p/litre :D

Oil jumped today from around $36 to $44.

No, for Duke's reason :p

I must say I'm genuinelly suprised they've gone to 82.9 - that must mean there is virtually NO profit at all, surely? I mean the tax alone is well over 60p which means what, 15-18p is the cost of buying the crude, refining it into petrol, transporting it to the retailer, then the retailers profit? Tiny, tiny margins and for that reason alone even without crude on its way back up and an absolutely crap sterling 79.9 is difficult to see.

As always, however, I will be most delighted to be proved wrong :D

full tank for the cup now costs me a massive 35 quid :D (82.9p/l) That will do circa 320 miles as well. Pretty chuffed!

I'm noticing this when filling up now - it's a nice surprise :) Gone are the days of the price surging above the litres delivered :D I'm sure it'll only be temporary respite, though!

82.9 At the shell in MK towards the Land Rover garage near where the road passes over the M1.

Nice :D

ive just signed up for a shell credit card (direct debit setup to pay the balance in full every month) 6p litre of fuel for the first 2 months, drops 3p litre after that. So for the time being im getting petrol for 76.9p....good times!

Nathan...I'm enjoying filling my 182 for £35 as well, also get change from that sometimes as well lol

I thought Shell were only doing that 3-6p off a litre if the price was over a pound per litre or have they changed the terms and conditions now?

Where is everybody getting that idea from?!

It's simply 3% off the pump price, regardless of how much it is (and 6% for the first few months as a special offer). No under/over £1/litre stipulation has ever been in place.

Regardless. 3% is better off in my pocket than theres. I presume generally they make money from the people who fail to pay the balance off in full every month...especially as they make it hard to setup a direct debit to do so. In my case however i shall not be lining their pockets via credit card interest

81.9 p/l in Beckton I hear, maybe the days of <80p/l aren't long off

Edit: I guess technically with the credit card it is lol

When i bought my first car in Sept 2001, I remember hunting around trying to find 79.9 at the pumps, as some places were 80.9/81.9 etc . . . . . . . . 7 years on and looks like we might be hitting sub 80p/litre - let the good times roll :)

Oil spiked upwards yesterday, I'd be suprised if we hit 80p.

Waiting to be proved wrong, though :p
