Anyone tried the new Asda price guarantee? I think it's a brilliant idea. The day after you've done your shopping at Asda, enter your receipt details online and if any of the 3 leading supermarkets are found to be cheaper overall, they will refund you the difference + 1p.

Just did my first one.

It wont take into account the price reduction things though will it? I generally get stuff at a tesco metro. They have an offer section with turkey, chicken and other bits and pieces that I get a lot cheaper

I find Asda is cheaper on individual items, but its offer suck.

Yes I can get a trolley of food for £5 cheaper in your store, but thanks to buy one get one frees in Tesco I have two trolleys worth.

i like asda soup.

If you shop online they have a much better/fairer replacemnet policy, if what you want is out of stock + they do me a free delivery once a month which is just right... so for me they are better

I don't have a car so it's a taxi ride away home thats after a 30 min walk there....so its not cheaper for me after transport when Tesco is in town, Morrison is on the way home from work.

Exactly. Plus supermarkets like tesco and morrisons put the yellow reduced labels on food that a day before it goes out of date. I generally pick up things like 3 packs of meat for £10 from tesco metro (chops, steak, chicken) and get reduced packs of turkey for £3 that were a fiver. This makes turkey about £5 a kilo like it was a few years ago

i dont work for asda, and also i am not loyal to any of them but im curious, when i shop at tesco i see almost the exact offers as when i shop at any other "cheap" supermarket inc bogofs etc. Your stores differ from this?

The only thing that sways me online shopping is the free delivery - if tesco did that id shop with them

I would gladly pay more not to shop in Asda, as I'm sure most people would.

The last time I went in there every other person was wearing a filthy tracksuit or a pair of jogging bottoms and there was, and this is not a word of a lie, an announcement of the tannoy which said:

'This is a colleague announcement. Can we have a passion for service please, a passion for service. Thank you'.

I cringed.

Haha brilliant.

I hate asda too, and I'm really not fussed about buy one get one free offers. I buy and cook for myself so I really don't want 40kg of crap that I will have to throw out in a week.

Gonna sound like a snob now but I regularly go to waitrose. It's quiet and peaceful, the food is much nicer and can be the same price as asda etc if you're a good shopper. The checkout girls are lovely and I'm happy to give them more money for the level of service:) I quite like morrisons too, they've got good veg+meat.

Last time i was in Asda it was around 10pm on a weekday (Park Royal) and i needed the loo after shopping. I don't think my phone camera would have held up to take a picture of what i saw in there; urine all over the floor, inside and outside the cubicals and faeces all over one of the toilet seat and smeared on the walls as well as on the cubical floor. Thank goodness i wasn't that desperate, i would have rather peed my pants. They did call for a cleaner just after i reported it at their customer service desk to their credit.

Can't believe the amount of negativity to ASDA on the forum. Always rated them better than any other supermarket.

Friends and family are of the same opinion.

ASDA has been performing badly in the battle between the supermarkets. Recently they lost a very senior figure. Their response is this price matching system (a mistake in my view). I think there is a fine line between being cheap and being a place where the majority will shop, this move will test that line to the breaking point.

Same but I can't say I spend long enough walking around them to judge.

I'm not loyal to any supermarket, I'll jump into whichever I'm driving past...Mainly Sainsburys, it's generally quieter and easier going - better selection of meals and alcohol too.

I avoid Tesco for it's ever growing pikeyness and a somewhat snobby attitude a lot of the customers seem to have. It's generally jam packed with insufferable imbeciles on weekends/weeknights. Morrisons is just crap.

I hate Asda, it's the worst supermarket ever! The ones in England might be better but over here, you find all the tramps of the day in them.

Probably says more about Bangor tbh...

Any ASDA's I've been into over here and on the mainland have been grand. Our new one opens in a fortnight and I'm pretty sure it'll pee all over the ****-poor Tesco Extra we have here in Antrim.

Not really, asda usually have much better beer offers on than tescos. And their fuel is generally cheaper.

That said I wouldn't shop at either, and I have staff discount in tescos, the food is crap in both and they're both full of tracksuit wearing scummers because they're both budget supermarkets.
