Yesterday I happily started the first Asgards Wrath pcvr game and played it for a few hours via virtual desktop (which connected perfectly). I tried to load the game again today, I chose it from the occulus app on my pc as I did yesterday, but it will no longer load up. I just get a black window on my virtual view, shows full black screen on my pc. No sound, no logo etc. Occulus app library says game is running but nothing happens. Have to ctrlaltdel to turn it off. Any ideas? it was connecting fine, even tried today with wired connection with no luck. Other games on my occulus app library run without a problem.

Still no joy getting it to run again. Have tried reinstalling the game, repairing oculus pc app, reinstalling oculus app and have even tried some other games I had on the store from my old rift. They were all working last week and now either don’t seem to load or say loading then take me straight back to oculus desktop.

Do none of your meta pcvr work at all now. Can you play steam pcvr games?

What headset are you using?

Does it load up the Oculus App fine on your headset? And only goes black loading up games? Have you tried any Steam VR games?

Quest 3 headset. All was working fine a week ago. Steam vr works fine, virtual desktop works fine. Headset connects to pc fine. Loads occulus app on headset and pc fine. Download each older game with no problem, they just fail to run. On pc screen for Asgard it just shows a black screen, no sound. On headset it just has the Occulus app desktop with a window showing graphic for the game saying loading. I have to use task manager to get out of it.

That's a strange problem. Steam VR games work, but Oculus games don't.

If you go into the Oculus App and settings and into the general tab. There will be an OpenRX Runtime section. It should say underneath that "Oculus is set as the active OpenXR runtime" If it doesn't, click the button to the right that says "set Oculus as active"

Some of the older games need Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2019 version. Maybe a windows update broke that or changed that in someway. If you go into control panel and programs and then uninstall. You should see it listed there. If it is, select it and hit repair.

Ok, thanks for the help. Went into the Occulus pc app and found that the openxr was set to steamvr so set it to Occulus. Tried the games again, still the same. Restarted pc and tried again but no change. Went into control panel and checked for the 2015-2019 version but it was not there. nearest was the 2015-2022 version so ran repair just in case. Restarted again but still no joy. It’s a weird problem as it was all working fine but who knows what could have changed between updates and graphic card updates over the last few days.

Occasionally I get this issue 'Running this application is currently disabled on the active headset. (1971014)' where none of the 0culus titles will run.
Go into this location - C:\Program Files\Oculus\Software\Software and start a game by clicking on the game .exe file.

Another thing to try. If you have a spare drive try reinstalling windows.
I had an issue where it wouldn't connect to play 0culus titles. 0culus support gave me a long list of things to try including activating error reporting and sending them off. In the end the headset was replaced...... and the new one had the same fault. Last resort was a reinstall of windows which worked.

Just tried running the Wrath.exe and still no luck. I have just noticed something when I was using the link into the pc and occulus app...... if i choose to view my pc desktop via the headset using the occulus pc app then i just get a black window in the middle of the screen. no desktop appears! I wonder if the 2 problems are linked? If I use virtual desktop and the streaming app on pc the desktop and non occulus library pc apps run fine (steam).

Have you tried running the game without the headset on. Just load the Oculus App on the desktop and start the game.

These are some quick things to try. All have been responsible for black screens or odd things happening while using the a headset.

Turn HDR off.
Turn the Xbox Game bar/PC gaming bar off.
Make sure Hardware scheduling is disabled(you will have to restart after disabling this) It might not even be enabled.

EDIT: Check and see what updates were installed in the last week on your computer. If there was only one update, try uninstalling it and see what happens. Or maybe it auto-updated your GPU drivers and that's where the problem is. What graphic card do you have?
