Ashes of creation.

Anyone playing this since it went into Early Access. I’ve just started with a couple of low level characters, a Mage on one server and a Ranger on another.

The Mage was painful in the time I played it, very fragile and DPS wasn’t great, but the Ranger has been more fun and DPS felt good too.

No not yet. couldnt get on during its launch and now have put the game on ice until maybe mid this year i will check it out.

Currently playing Guild wars 2 which is quite frankly amaziing

Yeah I have been playing, it's got a very good foundation so I am hoping that it succeeds.

Desperate for a good MMO as no such thing exists these days.

Ooh, this is the first I've heard of this, will have to give it a go.

Absolutely loved FFXIV, but something a little different wouldn't hurt.

Yeah it definitely feels like it's in Early Access. Servers are quite full with long queues for the most full, but the smaller ones seem quite active anyway. There is some hitching from time to time, but that'll smooth out eventually (hopefully).

That's kind of by design of the genre - MMOs are at their core massive time sinks players get far more committed too than any other game and are designed to never stop being updated... so when a new one comes along and tries to steal another MMOs players, the players don't care and won't budge because they have years to decades and beyond of investment in that game and their character.

Players aren't going to throw that all away just because a new game comes along promising the world. The writings already on the wall, the ship is sunk before it's even left the dock - MMOs don't survive bad launches even if they're still "Early Access".

It's got a cash shop in an alpha ffs.

I'll be amazed if AOC goes on to be a long-term success or even last more than a couple of years, it has everything working against it IMO.

It just goes to show just how badly AGS f'd up with New World, they could afforded easily to let it develop for another 2-3 years then released it, and they'd still have a succesful MMO, which opened with a 1M players playing the initial launch, not one they closed down because they botched the launch so badly. Just stupidity and greed from people who know nothing and care nothing for game even their own games. They closed the game down when it was the best it's ever been because it was just too late.

Intrepid will not be able to prop up AOC for years if it isn't a 9/10 at least at launch, it has it be nigh on perfect, it's also highly PvP focused with is another terribly difficult thing to pull off.

My issue with modern day MMO's is cash shops and battle passes - no visual progression anymore because you just buy the best look in the shop.

Long gone are the days where you'd look in at a top level toon riding past in WoW which inspired you.
