Every organisation I have worked for, bar the motor trade, have been fine with this ( I have never had to do this) but I know colleagues who have had to ask for wage advances and they were fine with it, it would be most advisable to just ask.

My previous MD was very reasonable post lunch, *if* he could remember your name!
I've had one before because of the cut of dates for payroll I wasn't going to get paid for 7 weeks after I started, and I needed to pay for rent etc, so requested an advance, I couldnt get a full month but I got the amount I should have got at the end of the first 3 weeks I think
+1 for cash converters before getting on the bus to car craft

To be fair, payday loans are over such short periods that the rate has to be high for them to make any money--it only looks awful if you convert it to APR.
They are nasty things that prey on the impoverished and contribute to the debt spirals that people find them in, but their rates aren't as bad as they seem when you put them like that
