OK, I've been tasked with building a computer capable of gaming and video editing for 400. This isn't the budget for the tower, but for the WHOLE computer!

Anyone able to do magic?

Well to spend as little on monitor, accessories etc as possible:

Benq G950A 18.5" Widescreen LCD Monitor: £64.79
OcUK USB Keyboard: £3.98
OcUK USB Optical Mouse: £4.99
Logitech S-120 2.0 Speaker System: £9.59

Total: £83.35

Leaves roughly £320 for the tower.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Sapphire HD 7750 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £71.99
1 x Intel Pentium G850 2.90GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £65.99
1 x Toshiba (7K1000.D) 500GB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA050) £49.99
1 x MSI H61M-P31-G3 Intel H61 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £38.99
1 x Xigmatek Asgard Midi Tower Case - Black £29.99
1 x Cooler Master Elite Power 500W Power Supply £29.99
1 x OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £17.99
1 x OcUK Value 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Low-Voltage Dual Channel Kit £13.99
Total : £333.91 (includes shipping : £12.50).

Tiny monitor though. Stulid's ideas look perhaps better. Although much of that SSD will be taken up with the OS, leaving very little storage...

Depends if they already have an external drive for the video they are editing.

Could switch out that monitor in your build for a compromise, save £45; then drop the SSD and throw in that 500GB drive, which also brings the total cost (just) within budget?

Damn, not sure how I missed that cashback, that is indeed a great price for that monitor. Sorry...

You'd have to downgrade to something like the monitor I suggested which is no where near as nice, if you wanted the 500GB drive over the SSD. Obviously it's up to you... but I know I'd rather take the storage. 40GB for programs and data seems more than a little bit tight, especially if it's for both video editing and gaming.

Then again, if it's HD video, that may be an issue on a sub-Full-HD screen - although on the converse you would get better frames with the smaller native resolution in games.
