Asrock 1.6 bios whoose using it and how?

I'm using 1.6, only just flashed on sunday. Currently running my 3700+ OEM CCBWE 0542VPMW at:

CPU - 11*230 - 2.53Ghz
Vcore - 1.344
Memory:180.8Mhz
FSBRAM CPU/14

SuperPi - 34m 51s
Sisoft:
Drystone - ALU 11344 MIPS
Whetstone - iSSE3 5123MFLOPS

Not primed yet. Will prime and burn in, then see what else i can get out of it in a few weeks...

Tried it, didn't like it at all but maybe I never tested enough. I'm currently on the OCWBeta1 bios, I've found this is the best for me and will allow me to run my Opty 146 @ 3Ghz on 1.45v :D

Only using 2.5Ghz at the moment though until I get round to fitting my Freezer 64 Pro.

But I would say OCW's bios's for the win, they seem a little better then the standard bios's that Asrock release.

cheers fireblade,Now that im no longer on opty 146, i can consider something that does 2.7 (X10) as that seems to be the chips limit stable. So for tweaking and likes i want to play with one of the newer bios.

soul rider, thanks for the sandra, chuck a post this way once you know more, chances are ill flash it soon and add with some stats.

untill then, keep the posts coming as i want to gauge what the asrock clockers reckon about it. Thanks

I'm using 1.6 at the moment as it is the one that gives me no boot problems. I've tried just about all the rest from 1.2 including the OCWbeta ones with either my 146 or currently a 3000 winchester and this is the only one that boots every time. Also I can run the memory at 1T whereas on the others I struggled.

ATM the winchester is running at 270 x 9, 2.43GHz using 1.41v; HT is at 1080 as the multi is on 800 (x4); no matter which BIOS I use it won't run at 600 (x3) with either cpu; as HT don't like it above 1100 there isn't any advantage with the uncapped BIOSs. Memory is TCCD and is on 166 divider, 221MHz 2-3-3-7 1T with the vdimm set at high. No vcore or vdimm mods. BTW using an AGP card.

I've been using v1.6 since not long after its release and have found it to be the most stable of all the BIOS's, both official and the OCW betas.

The only problem I had was sometimes it wouldn't boot, but this was solved by changing the new BIOS option "AGP P2P Deep Fifo" from the default of Auto to Disabled. Having an AGP ATI card, and this option is for Nvidia AGP cards, I'm assuming by default this is enabled and that was the cause of the problem.

As per my sig, I'm running with the HTT set to the max this BIOS will go to on 1.4v. My HT is set to 600(x3) on both buses to keep it below the 1Gb mark.

With regards to memory, I'm having the same problem as a lot of other users in that I'm not running at 1T. It's stable within windows on 1T(prime stable, OCCT, SnM, Aquamark, 3DMark05 and Super Pi)but fails memtest test #8 pretty well straight away, so I run at 2T to be on the safe side.

HTH Mrchu_, dagwoood.

In the options on the 1.6 bios it says please choose a number between 146Mhz and 300Mhz for HTT.

Does that mean this bios is unlocked to 300Mhz?

its still locked at 274, you can select what you want tho.

I find 1.6 to be the most stable as well.

Uisng 1.6

However I clicked 1.450v for the cpu and on the "Hardware monitoring" it says that its at 1.480v roughly
Also I have Oc'ed my Amd 3000 venice to 2.3ghz ??? With priming at 36 degrees....

Is the mobo reading the temp wrong I have the acrtic cooling 64 freezer ;)

ill give it a whirl tonight, would be nice to get past that 274 limit without using beta bios.

is there anywhere to tell me what bios i am currently using ?

Just about the 1T or 2T memory issue with this board, I too had a problem when running 1T, it would BSOD in outlook when typing a new mail and also in a few other program. I've change the Bursts from 4 to 8 and I can now run 1T without any BSOD even with my RAM overclocked to from DDR400 to DDR500 :D

iv left mine on 2T after reading all the issues with problems

does changing this setting have any impact on performance. did you bench before and after ?

I didnt really bench before and after, I came across it by mistake actually, but running 1T is definately better then 2T, everything loads quicker and system is just generally more responsive.

But here is my most recent benchmark from last night running the OCWBeta1 bios at 1T

So what is the number or bursts - is it the number or bursts per timespan, or is it how often it bursts? If it was the first option it wouldn't seem to make any sense, as it would put more strain on the memory.

Well i updated bios to 1.6

and set the memory to 1 t running it at 2-3-6-3 and changed the burst to 8 and it works fine mate.

no errors after testing or crashes in outlook.

all is good :)

big thanks for good replys
The memory stability stuff especially interesting in terms of 1T for topitoff and others, Is a bonus step up.

keep posting the success & failures on it for others.

Thanks you lot :D
